New JB4 EWG OBD connector for RHD 328i

Anyone routed the new CANbus OBD connector to the OBD port on a RHD car? Looking at the unit - it doesn't appear that there's long enough cord to run From front left in engine bay to near right hand side kick panel to OBD port. (Drivers side for RHD car)?

All good. It reached ok. There's a rubber grommet next to brake booster that makes it piss easy to route through.

Where is your OBD? Mine's behind a trap door on the drivers kick panel. Can you post pics?

Yes - same as you described. I removed the trapdoor - permanently to keep the JB4 OBDII plug room

So now it's hanging proud of the door?

Can you provide a pic? Also, how did you get the connector down there?

Thanks.

It sits very proud of the obd door. There is a disused rubber grommet next to brake booster that feeds very easily down to driver footwell from the firewall. Remove lower panel at footwell as described in instructions and then poke cord through the hole from footwell . 6 min job. Easiest firewall run in any car

Thanks for the quick reply. Any chance of a pic looking into the footwell area? Is the cable running outside the kick panel or inside? I'm guessing outside.

Also, what will you do at service time?

Sorry for laziness on photo.

Car out of warranty however easy to move away plug and tuck it out of the way (have to remove kick panel though ) as well as all other JB4 engine wiring if you're really worried - however you don't have to take your car to a Dealer to keep warranty

Thanks Braddon, but I don't want any hassle if there's any type of engine glitch.

Anyway, I found the grommet (I think) you were talking about; is it the one pointing upwards, like a tower? On the LHS it's used for wiring, but on the RHS it's free.

Whenever you can get a chance for photos, that'd be great.

Oh, quite a few of my relatives live in Canberra. Near Woden.
