You're welcome.

Haven't seen any around mate. Your biggest problem will be a sound recording that's anyway decent and representative of what it's like. I don't like your chances.

For people who need to do this before fitting one, I reckon you're best off finding someone in your area who's got it installed and is generous enough to let you go for a ride with them.

Just wondering if this could in any way affect the new car warranty or lead to them refusing to honor the warranty if I purchased it from BMR and got someone else to install it?
Try asking them now. My dealership denied its existence until became available on the official BMW Accessories site. Once I sent them a link to that page, they immediately gave me a quote and wanted to schedule a date for the installation.

Me either, but I'll ask around.

My main concern is how much it will impact the in-cabin volume level. I like the stock volume level, though a tad more wouldn't hurt.

If that's the case, then I think this will be right up your alley.

Any muffler shop will be able to do this install, no need to get BMW to do it.

Expect to pay $80-100 for it to be installed

Thanks Dabaitu. Should I pull the trigger on this, I'll report back with the results.

True, but I don't really trust anybody at this point, I've never had work like this done to a car. From my perspective, I can have a BMW company install a BMW part to my BMW car...or have some one else do it.

The point above is that BMW wouldn't install it... hence get someone else to do it, or be deprived of the exhaust?

I understand. I'm saying there's no reason I wouldn't have BMW install it.

It's easy enough to DIY to be honest, I'd put the difficulty level on par with doing an oil change.

I can't tell you the last time I did an oil change.

I *could* do it myself...but I really really really don't want to :P It's one of those things I want to throw money at so it automagically happens while I'm at work.

That's cool, I understand. I was just trying to allay any concern about a solid non-BMW mechanic doing the work by comparing the difficulty of the work installed.

Here you go. Better late than never?

Will try and organise a cold-start video for people to have a listen to over the weekend, now that everything's nicely coated in carbon and bedded in.

Very pleased with this exhaust, wouldn't have it any other way.

*ahem*

If it helps, and if you use the logbook method for claiming a tax deduction on car costs, you could always quote the after tax cost of installing this vital part to your car.

Don't ask me about the tax mumbo jumbo side of things, speak to your accountant.

Yeah, that helped bring the work involved into perspective. I'm just used to dealing with dealerships for this type of work.

I don't think I would have trouble finding someone to do the install. My concern is whether the actual modification could cause any forseeable issues for them to deny any warranty claim or servicing of the vehicle.

I am really keen on buying this from BMR, as it really looks and sounds great on Dabaitu's car. I guess I just want piece of mind before I make the jump. I haven't gotten around to speaking more in depth with their parts department yet. From exhaust modifications I have done to my previous vehicles I can't see what problems this could possibly cause that could affect the warranty, but I don't want to give them an excuse to do so.

Sadly this isn't available on the Australian site.
