The increased top speed limiter comes with the M-sport line. In the past the PPK's have came with oil coolers to be added on, not sure if that was the case with the E9x's or not.

Its 1370 MSRP, right now through Dec 31 the dealers are getting %10 off, so knock off another 137 bucks. I dont know how you guys negotiate your deals but we dont sell parts at invoice to customers, nor our cars but it might be different in bigger metro areas. Dealer cost is right at $1000.

There is no part number for the f30 yet, right now its only available as a port installed acc. It just became available so I am sure a part # will be avilable soon. You can figure out the labor if your trying to add this on after the fact, itl probably be in the 1500 range installed (MSRP).

He probably wont have anything, youve really gotta make them look. Most of the guys working back there give it one try, but the BMW software sucks and you really have to search for performance stuff.

I was very close to a 135i but you just get so much more car with the F30....but nothing drives better in BMW's line right now than the 1

You may be correct, the info i found on a tuner web page may have been referring to the e9x.

So is there a second oil cooler for the f30 if you get the PPK? And is the 2nd oil cooler located on the driver side wheel? There is one already there on my pasoša ger side but i see nothing on the driver side.

true, my dealer would only do like 1-2% above cost MAX on the M perf suspension i just ordered.

theres no second oil cooler, the original PPK had to offer this because the original n54/55 engines didnt have them, afaik.

You can get the ppk or any other port acc installed up until the vehicle has left for transport from the VPC. Just call or talk to your dealer/salesman, they will attempt to do it online which should work but sometimes it dosent, they can always call distribution and tell them directly.

If your car is due the 21st you have plenty of time to have it done.

PPK

So I asked my CA to contact the VPC about a port installed PPK. Unfortunately, the manager that handles port install is in Germany till next week so no ability to get it done till he returns. Anyhow, do we know if the VPC has this available to install immediately or will they sit on my car until it comes avail? Is the product stable? It would suck if the port installs the PPK and I run into problems that the dealer cant resolve because they dont have the PPK yet. Part of my dilemma is I'm also putting on a performance exhaust at the dealer instead of doing the port install because I got a better deal. If the port does the PPK, and I put the exhaust on after, do you think there might be an issue with the PPK needing to be updated (again, dealer cant adjust it locally because its currently not available to them). I guess I'm leaning on waiting till the dealer has his hands on the PPK but it would be cool to have it done prior to delivery.

Thanks everyone

Youre saying its been pretty reliable? Are you running the stage 1?
Yes, very good numbers. The stock numbers are great too.
I'm telling ya, I still think the N55 in the F30's feel stronger stock than it did in the 135i and E90's. Can't prove it. I'm comparing the feel of my 135i with an N54 to my 335i w/N55, and the N54's were a bit stronger stock power. My 335i feels a bit stronger and faster and it's a bit heavier.
But then, this trans has some low gearing compared to the 135i's MT.
Auto mag reviews tested the 135i MT w/N54 at 4.7 to 60.
The 335i sport AT tested at 4.7 too, whereas the E90 335i was about .2 sec slower. Could be the new AT gearing, but maybe the current N55 is squeezing out a bit more, maybe.

No I'm not running a tune. If I do it will be in the spring.
My greater need right now is to get a new set of tires as it's getting colder and some snow might not be too far away.

I have a set of B-stone RE970's on hold at Tirerack. I'm supposed to get them installed this weekend, and likely I will.
I'm just not sure I want those over the Conti DWS, which I had on my 135i, and I liked their performance very much.
I digress.

The N55 stage 1 seems like a very nice upgrade for little lay out.
And, lots and lots of 1 series owners had the various JB-juice box tunes, and no one had any engine problems related to the tunes

Keep us posted if you get it. Let me know and I'll come out and help you install it, that is if you even need help. But I'd love to come out and get a test ride.

The M sport has the higher speed limiter only if you didn't order the all season tires. Ordering the AS tires removes the higher limiter. It's shown/worded on the order sheet. i was considering AS tires for my Msport, but I didn't like the low performance AS BMW choose. I got S001's on my Msport, but am installing much better AS tires very soon.

Really the higher speed limiter is due to the higher speed rating of the summer tires BMW installs. If they had simply choose to install AS tires with a higher speed rating this would not be an issue.
I would think that is someone with an Msport and AS tires installs new tires will higher speed rating, then there is no reason not to let them install it.
After all, it's not like Msports with AS tires have lower power output to begin with, they have the same stock power, the only difference being the lackluster lower speed rating of using lower performance AS tires.

I think when you get the summer/performance tires, it triggers option code 840 for Increased Top Speed Limiter, which should include an extra cooler of some sort. Which is required for the PPK?

Exactly what I figured! I see some f30's have a cooler on the driver side in forn of the wheel. mine only has it on the passanger side. Im assuming this is due to me having all season tires. hence 130 mph limited car. like i posted earlier Ive don 136mph and the car still kept pulling. Was the speedo inaccurate? I dont know....porobably.

Yeah, likely the speedo was inaccurate.

I've noticed the cooler(s) as well, and saw a pic where someone was missing one on the drivers side like yours, but I don't know what that particular cooler is for.

EDIT: here's the thread I was thinking about: http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=647310

Yep that the thread. I see most m sport cars have coolers on both sides. I'm thinking that's the extra cooler. I wish I knew this when purchasing, I would have done it different. Oh well next time I'm building and doing a ED.

So the second cooler is a transmission cooler or oil cooler? If it's an oil cooler, than easy fix, once Dinan releases an F30 product line their revamped oil cooler will be an upgrade worth waiting for.
If it's a transmission cooler, one has to wonder... Why? Unless the new 8 speed gets exceptionally hot on track days..
But there's no way I'm tracking this car...
