Great start... Somebody else with only lighting in the ceiling instead of the one with the emergency call buttons?
I don't have anything to plug the connector in here. |

Our support team does not work on weekends, but I will try to help you.
First thing you should check is if the module is getting power. There is an LED that should light up red if the module is getting 12v. Here the location of the LEDs: If you are not getting red light please check the connection in the roof switch cluster. This is where the module gets 12v from. If the above connection looks good and you have a multimeter please check if there is 12v coming from the roof switch cluster to the module. Technically you could take 12v from anywhere just to test the module, but to make sure comfort access works when the car is locked you need to take it from a specific source like the roof switch cluster. Let us know how it goes. |

The roof cluster itself does work (all lights come on): The module itself looks like it isn't getting power? Which would make sense as to why nothing is working. In terms of the connections and OEM connector, I believe you can see that here that the larger empty openings on the end starting with pin 1 the ones designed for the 12v wire? BimmerTech roof harness plugged in: I'm guessing I need to find a way to get 12v to the control box, but not sure where to start on a plug and play solution for that. |

The lack of the wires in the two bigger slots in the oem connector is the cause of the issue. We'll check wiring diagrams to see where we could get power and ground from in cars like yours. The only quick fix is to tap into a different wires (with tap-in connectors) once we find out which wires can be used. We will work on a different plug and play harness but it might take a while. Please send me a PM with your vin and we will take it from there. |

Would you like my vin as well since I don't have that sos button? We will probably need a different harness as well. I already have the kit but have not started the install.

Patrys, there is a single small brown connector/plug on the second control box plug, what is this used for?
Thanks

Should it be connected or disconnected as well? Doesn't help me right now as I have to sort out the 12v power issue, but for those who have 12v going to the box, this question has come up a few times,

EDIT: It turns out that I don't need that connector its only for cars with the alarm system. The harness for my car picks up +12V directly from the battery. Last edited by Gabrola; 04-03-2017 at 12:46 PM.. |

Are you implying there are multiple harnesses available, for example one that carries the +12v from the battery? If that is the case, I'm confused why BimmerTech didn't pick up on the fact that when I purchased my product, they checked the VIN to know that my vehicle didn't have a sunroof or an alarm system and I didn't have any +12v connection in the roof to power the control box. I would have much rather ran my antenna wire and power wire from the trunk at the same time, it would have been easier than the headliner connections. |

Convertibles do not have a typical roof switch cluster so they get a connection to the rear view mirror and directly to the battery. The 3-series by default uses the roof switch cluster connection (single connection instead of two like convertibles), but we will also include a direct battery connection for cars that can't use the roof switch cluster power supply. This will come in an new version of the harness. Coming back to your question why you did not receive a different harness. We did not know you would not have this power wire in the OEM connector. Btw. I checked all the VINs in the group buy and the only two people affected are you and Kenniey. We are sorry for that. Last edited by Patrys@BimmerTech; 04-03-2017 at 04:49 PM.. |
