Would I be able to contact the dealer and have them fix it? I have a vibration around 2500-3000 when accelerating with the AC on only. I've turned the ac off and the vibration won't be there and soon as I turn it back on, the vibration comes back.

Quick update about the root cause of the buzzing sound.

The weight kit installed on AC low pressure hose did not address my vehicle's buzzing sound. The dealer however installed it as a preventive measure.

The buzzing sound in my vehicle originated from driver side AC vent which had to be replaced. The dealer also installed additional insulation. So far - the buzzing sound hasn't reappeared.

Hi Guys I am having the buzzing sound in my 328i is it possible for it to occur in this model.
I am hearing the sound at low revs when you park the car or drive around at low speeds. Car has done 6300 KMS.

My dealer won't do anything about it as the service bulletin is American, so I just have to cope with the noise...

(btw, nice to see a fellow Malawian on the forum, I am originally from Blantyre)

South Africa has no bulletin out for the fix yet I was able to show my dealer the US TSB and between himself and BMWSA sourced the part and fitted it.

Sounds like your dealer is doing the bare minimum.

Wow, really! I just had the fix completed at the dealer and the noise is gone at all RPM's. It seems that the fix should be global.

Took my car in for service and the dealer installed the clamp on the AC hose to reduce the vibration & noise.

I will try again when I go for an oil change. Did you just give them the service bulletin # and they were able to search it? Or do you have a pdf or some sort of documentation other than the forum in which I can represent?

This whirring noise started on my '14 335i a few days ago. It's intermittent, but when it does happen it stops when I turn off the AC. My car has 13k miles on it, so I'm bummed that I have an issue already.

I just spoke to my service manager and he is ordering the part and I should have it installed next week. I provided him with the SIB number and he had no issues finding it and getting me squared away. I suggested that I install it myself (avoid waiting room) but he said they have to install it so BMW will honor the claim.

Joining this forum is the best thing I have done for my BMW! Thanks members!

So got home from the dealer and I found that they installed the new damper weight in place of the original damper weight! No wonder I still heard the noise on the way home! What does it take to get good service! Now I have to call and bitch and go back to the dealer. Let's hope the tech still has the original damper weight. Sorry for the rant!

Bulletin states that there is an intermittent whirring noise from the IHKA system when the engine is under load between 2,000 and 3,000 rpm, and sometimes higher RPMs.

Cause has been identified by BMWNA as vibrations coming from the A/C low-pressure hose, which are resonating into the heating and air conditioning system. (In my 335, this resonance could be heard in the cabin, and felt in the steering column.) The resonance will rattle/buzz whatever is loose in the dash.

BMW has developed a new mass weight kit to dampen vibrations in the A/C low pressure hose, being transmitted from the engine.

After experiencing this problem from the second week of owning my new F30, I had this kit installed today. Problem first manifested itself at about 200 miles, today I have over 4500 miles. When I applied moderate load to the engine in gears 1 to 4, there would be an unmistakable engine vibration right around 2500 RPM. My experience matches many of the videos posted by other Bimmerpost members.

My dealer was earnest in attempting to isolate the problem. First repair attempt, they initially found an engine cover loose. Second repair attempt they insulated the plastic engine cowling, nav screen, AC hoses, etc. Felt tape / wrapping was applied in multiple locations. 3rd attempt, after driving the car without the dash, and still hearing the noise, they isolated the problem to the AC hose. I can’t say enough about the terrific service efforts at the dealership. They worked tirelessly, including researching the problem from the various Bimmerpost threads I sent them. After communicating with their regional BMW reps, they were told a service bulletin was coming.

Bulletin was released this week, part ordered Monday, delivered Thursday, and installed today. Am very hopeful this will do the trick and I’ll finally be rattle/vibration/whirring noise free. Highlighted circle in the picture below shows the new kit installed on the A/C hose.

Drove the car about 15 miles today. The vibration/buzzing/whirring sound are definitely better – but need more drive time to fully determine if this new mass weight kit has cured all ills.
Hi Tjcf14,

I have a noise/rattle in my car 2014 435i which I wanted check with you if this was similar to what you experienced? (video link below)

I checked the engine and I can see that the kit has been applied the car has been to the dealer 3 times now and still have the issue and I notice it more either when at traffic light or slowing down to stop. the car is December 2013 production build and I'm told the dealer during my visits had changed exterior engine fan, interior blower fan, Expansion valve, checked AC gas levels.

Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

This happens to my 2014 435 when I accelerate it at 3-4gears at 2500rpm. I thought it was something related to the dashboard. And it happens 7/10 chance.

But today while texting this thread , when I put on P gear(so the car is not moving )and I tried to reproduce the noice at 2500rpm, the noice is not happening. Did you have the same issue when it?s only happening when accelerating? While on P, no noises.

What is a bmw bulletin? Do I just go to the dealership and let them know the rattling issue, and they would fix for me?

This happened to me as well. They installed the new weight right on top of the other and the noise actually got worse, moved the weight down the line before the bend and the noise is now gone.

Dear friends.

I have a 2014 F30 320d, from Portugal.

I might have the same problem as you guys. When i turn on the climate control, I start hearing a weird sound from the engine. When i turn the blower off, 4 secs later it stops.

Im worried because i don't even need to turn on the A/C. I just turn on the fan blower.

Heres a video of the sound.

The a/c hose on my car is a bit different than what I see on here. A bit more thick. Don't know if it vibrates..
