We've been sitting on ConnectedDrive S/W update 01008 since 2014! That was good up to IOS6. We're now running under 9.3.3in mid 2016!! I understand BMW (or their tech contractor) needs to do a through T&E before releasing, but this continues to be ridiculous.

Those updates are designed solely to address connectivity issues. They do not bring any new functionality.

that is not entirely accurate, although much is directed at connectivity problems.

Case in point, the last update UDP 01008 addressed following including functionality:

Not hijacking, but, recently I have purchased a 330e, with the latest NBT. Everytime I go to the connected drive option, i see that there is available update, and the car also apparently downloads something I can see. But nothing seems to be applied. Can anybody share the correct procedure to upgrade it.

I would bet if you asked BMW, they would tell you how great iDrive 5 is and suggest you should call your local retailer about upgrading your car.

I have come to the conclusion that due to the static nature of technology in newer cars, I am thinking my next car will have as little tech as possible.

I have all they offer in my F31, but use it rarely because apps on my phone do everything better. Waze is way better than the nav app, with Google Now + Google Music, or Apple Music, way better way to manage music. Spotify quality is way better than XM Sirius.

All I really am going to be looking for is an eyes free button.
