OK.

I just got my first stone chip today...
And it was on the way to the clear bra shop. (why...god...why..((( )

I've only had the car for 3 weeks.

The chip is pretty small, you can hardly see it unless you look really close.

Well...it's gonna happen anyways... I'm not sure if I should leave it under the clear bra (since it's really hard to notice) or fix it and wait for another 2 weeks before it can be filmed.

Thanks for the heads up.
I've had my car keyed multiple times, and from my experience, what they quoted sounds like repainting the whole door, which is a pretty foolproof way of making the car look like new again. That's what I'd have done if insurance was paying for it, or if I found the at-fault party ...

If you're just doing it for yourself, you can probably convince them to give you a cheaper solution (or go elsewhere).

Prepare for flames in 3....2....1.... A BMW tech suggested using sharpie to cover up the scratch. I took his advice and was pleasantly surprised with the result. From 3 feet you cant see it on BS, but once its pointed out its obvious, but at least it isn't a white scratch on a black car.

Nice! Hey, maybe you're happy with the results while keeping an extra $1000 in your pocket. Nothing's wrong with that -- keeping a new car in showroom condition is stressful.

Car got showered with skipping rocks today on the highway. I was 10-15 car lengths behind the gravel truck and still got destroyed.

My local BMW dealer utilizes a mobile rock chip repairman. I took the car over to him this afternoon and he took care of the chips in no time by simply using some Glacier Silver touch-up paint. Seriously impressed by this guy's freehand ability.

First ding was on the first hour of the first day I picked up the car. right after pick up I went to a driving range and hit a bucket then when I came back to the car a lobbed golf ball from the range had hit my trunk. Just my luck.

Just got my first windshield chip last week after 1 year of driving, and of course, it immediately turned into a huge crack, now to get the windshield replaced, ouch!

1 month of ownership of my EB2 Msport and some douche bag "fellow" BMW X5 backs into my naked bumper while pulling out of a spot. I was contemplating leaving my Euro plates on from my ED but decided 2 plates looked too tacky (this probably would've prevented my damage); Took them off and the end result was a 2 inch horizontal paint chip right on the top edge of the bumper below the driver's side grill...The joys of street parking in NYC.

I work in bronx NY which contributed to all damages on my car lol NYC is the worst place to park. Had my car almost a year already (bsm 335i msport) and have two door dings, light bumper scuffs, front bumper chips, small but deep scratch one passenger door, scratches on hood and trunk from hurricane sandy. I dont expect my car to look perfect as its a daily so im used to it. I drive the hell out of my car cause imma damn well get my money worth lol im not into babying cars anyway.

Actually the car has already got a chip on the bumper before I took delivery. but the dealer promised to replace the bumper for me.

What does this chip look like that the dealer did? I have a problem with my front bumper and I'm not sure what to do about it. They offered to just paint the bumper but make me pay for it.

I got my first chip 2-3months afterwards. Got the BMW OEM touch up paint, but always got less than optimal results from all previous uses.

Found this stuff called Langka Paint Chip Repair and it works really well.

Chips on Jet Black show like white stars against a really really black sky!

There were two chips on the bumper when I was checking the car before signing all the paper. Well they don't look like regular stone chips, the paint near the chips was badly damaged and some paint was like being dragged out of its place.

No you should not pay a single penny for the repaint if the chip is already there before you took delivery.

Did anyone notice any minor scratches on the HVAC climate temperature screen, especially when a sun shines on it?

Seems like all cars have it, even brand new showroom ones.

My parking lot has a real tight entry with sharp turns and I hit my rims twice at the same spot in the space of 2 months. Thankfully no dents on the body but its so stressful every time I park at a shopping mall.

After 1 year, I've accumlated the following damages to my car:

- 1 door ding, not fixed.
- 1 scratched front bumper, not fixed.
- got rear ended, replaced with new bumper.
- 2 windshield nicks about 1mm in size, both in my line of sight. Too small to repair, so have to live with it... or get new windshield.

I have 3 chips on the drivers side of the bumper sustained while traveling 155mph which I received in the last 2 months. One actually ripped through my clear bra leaving a deep inch long scratch. I think at 155mph the air suck from the intake must pull harder on the drivers side.

Thread revived.

For those OCDers out there, how do you guys overcome small imperfections on your car, especially if it's something that you have caused?
