I paid 1800$ for tire and wheel protection. I think it's too much, what can I do about it? I want to keep the warranty, but at a lower price (1100 - may be)
I don't want to cancel it and switch to run flats, etc other options. |

There's 2 other choices--try and negotiate the price down, or go without it. You may be able to get them down to $1100; they might want to eliminate cosmetic damage.

Personally I think that's a little bit expensive unless you live somewhere where the roads are not smooth. Then it might be a wise investment. The tires on Tire Rack r l $600 for a pair and figure rim repair might be a few hundred so one incident and you're still ahead. If you have 19 inch wheels it is a little bit more risky.

I guess it's too late. If you have a cancellation right, I'd pull the trigger on that. Unless you damage a rim, the likelihood you will have $1800 in damage (not normal wear) to your tires over the warranty period is slim.

I can see this being the price if you have 20" 405M with PSS tires, but do you?

i initially purchased this as well for $1200 but figured at $375 ish a wheel for a 441M wheel and/or $300 per tire, i'd have to go through a few to recoup that cost.
i submitted for a refund and they gave it back through my payment plan by not having to pay my monthly for a few months. i ended up getting aftermarket wheels anyhow... |

IMO that's a bit excessive. I live where we don't have nice roads (potholes everywhere especially right after winter). My dealership offered the wheel and tire package to me for $900CAD and reduced it to $700CAD after negotiating.

You should have 30 days to cancel (to cover this situation of buyers remorse).
Unless you drive a place that has car sized potholes that's destroying rims, I don't think it's worth it. You can put plugs in holes of RFTs (as long as it's the tread and not the sidewalls) -- regardless of what BMW is telling you. We've had a lot of different vehicles, and the only time I had rim issues was self-inflicted by curb rash (just scuffing). |
