No, I believe he means iDrive CIC.

For this you need NBT Head Unit, which unfortunately your 2013 U.S. F30 does not have unless you retrofitted it, and the FDL Code is:

HU_NBT = > STARTUP_EMBLEM = variant_xx

Plus you have to change FEM_BODY / 3053 / KOMFORTSCHLIESSEN_FB to aktiv in order for the mirrors to fold/unfold via the fob. CA fold/unfold is enabled by default.

I think though this is a function of the Welcome Lights. In F10, I would look at WL_FUNKTION_POL and see what my options are, and other "WL" settings.

Inherently, what you are asking represents a conflict. By putting the switch in Position 4, you are disabling DRL, yet wanting DRL's as welcome lights, so this may be a lost cause.

There you are! I'll check it out, but wait I'm confused on why that represents a conflict, in my car even if i'm on switch position four the DRL's (which are the corona rings) remain on the whole time the car is on? on your F10 Position 4 = no lights on at all?

I'll investigate the WL_FUNKTION_POL lead....

No Luck, closest I got was WL_AKTIVIERUNG

Translation of comments:
Comment = Welcome Light:
0 - disabled
1 - activation with light switch in position A (Auto)
2 - activation with light switch in position A (Auto) OR 2

Its already set to 2, not sure what Position 2 is, but its not the one I want lol, maybe I can't change it.

No, I just misread the note below the image you posted that Position 4 was both Head Light and DRL Off, but it is only Head Light Off. I just checked mine, and they are the same way. Apparently the Welcome Lights by design only work in Automatic mode, which seems strange to me.

Becoz there are folks that doesn't like seeing their headlights switch on/off all the time...

Without coding, some people feel the pain of headlights staying on despite what seems to be bright environment, and the welcome lights only stay on for a brief period, so traditional thinking on and off, can't be a good thing, so there better be a switch that I can turn that off

It's the Angel Eyes, not the headlights, that we are talking about, and you can turn the Welcome lights on and off from the iDrive Menu, so it makes no sense that the welcome lights are disabled when the switch is in position 4. They should work the same as position 3, and if you don't like them, just can uncheck the iDrive box turn them off.

I'm just giving a real world example, I'm not complaining... and yes, angel or headlight, the on/off is a concern for some folks

and trust me, a lot of owners never explore their menu, and don't really know what seems to be very basic stuff

Hello,
My f30 has i-step 12-11-504. I have coded it with 3.18.4 and psdzdata 48.1.
After FA coding I decided to update ECU after i did that procedure Connect => Read FA => Activate FA => Read VCM => Left-Click on KOMBI => Click on "Detect CAF for SWE" => Select the CAFD matching your I-Level => Select OK => Right-Click on INHK (the ECU itself not the underlying CAFD) => Select CODE I think I have coded ECU with 12-11-502. If I use 3.128.4 and psdzdata 48.3 can I upgrade Kombi ECU back to 12-11-504?
Thank for advance.

What are you doing? If the ECU already had CAFD, why did did you do "Detect CAF for SWE"?

If it is working now, leave it alone. Changing the CAFD won't make any difference.

This story started earlier. I decided to unlock video in motion, make memory for start stop function and to enable current speed at dashboard display. All of that I have done through fdl. Everything was fine but, before coding my trunk was opening together with the doors and it was very convinient for me but after I have coded all options I want trunk started to open without doors opening. To fix that and to make start stop coded through FA I have added to HO-Wort OMSA for start stop and OENE for trunk opening with doors. After that I decided to make operation I have described in my previous post for FEM and Kombi. I wasn't able to read fem because e-sys showed me message with error, during kombi reading there was no any problems with reading and I coded it with 12-11-502. After that kombi and it cafds became not blue as other ECUs but black. And at the top of ecus tree in brackets it written 18 colored black and after coma 1colored red. I think first figure is numher of all ecus and second is kombi ecu with another version. Sorry for such long text.

Operating systems that can be used

I bought a laptop for coding that has Win8. Can we code with Win8 or do I need to have a separate HD with Win XP or 7?

Win 8 is fine, including 64 Bit.

Sorry for the derail but could anyone direct me to a similar thread for coding for the E84? Good friend just picked one up and wants to know if he can get Bluetooth A2DP (only has bluetooth phone). Checked the E84 forum but did not find one. Thanks!!

You should not request a specific I-Level, as it doesn't mean much by itself.

Case in point. F020-12-11-502 is both ISTA/P 2.48.0 and ISTA/P 2.48.1. If you got 48.0, and the car has 48.1, then you may very well not have what you need.

Ideally, you always want the latest PSdZData anyway, but this became complicated by the transition to E-Sys 3.22.5 and some people's reluctance to update if it was not needed, due to the cost of doing so.

In your case, I presume you are using E-Sys 3.18.4, which for F20 / F30 Chassis, the latest you can use without updating is 48.2.

E-Mail sent.

Understood. I realized according to the charts it could be 48.0 or 48.1 but I was hoping you'd link me to 48.1 or 48.2 assuming I'd want to milk E-Sys 3.18.4 as long as I can and you did. Thank you again!

If you are having trouble locating the 511 ohm .6 watt resister I can help. I found them at Mouser Electronics which is an online electronic store used by car companies. The Mouser P/N is 594-mrs25000c5110frp. I have had no problems with them shipping to an APO address either. I hope this helps.
