Front left suspension knocking when cold (340 with adaptive susp)
Hi,
I noticed that on a cold day (~20 degrees), for the first few minutes of driving I hear a knocking sound coming from the front drivers side suspension when going over bumps. It is fine when the car is warmed up. I have the adaptive suspension on my 2016 340 xdrive. Does anyone else have this problem? Thx |

Has anybody brought it to the dealer? Is there something wrong or completely normal? What's the cause? |

I as going to wait for weather to warm up a bit here and poke around underneath. I just happen to notice right after installing Dinan springs so I thought that was issue however it was also right when temps dropped below freezing.

Same thing here - knocking seems to come from the rear though
My e46 had a similar sound when the bushings were toast. Shouldn't be that as mine's only 1.5 years old with 26k km on it |

Update to mine. I finally decided to get rid of run flats and went with Michelin 4S. Sounds magically went away. I kept the RFTs and after looking closely 2 of the 4 tires had feathering on outer edge possibly causing the noise.

I have a knocking noise from the front left side of the car that is constant. It's been diagnosed as a failed EDC damper. The estimate from the dealer to replace (both front dampers) is eye watering. My Platinum Extended Warranty does not cover dampers.
Am living with it for now. Will eventually purchase the parts online and have an Indy shop handle. |
