Protect all?

Taking delivery on Saturday!!! So excited.

Anyway my dealer just called and went over a few final details prior to taking delivery. He happened to offer me something called "protect all". He said it is applied to the exterior and covers and scratchs, sap, small dents etc for 3 years. Price was $390.

I declined but I am kind of intrigued. This is my daily driver and it will be outside all year round. Is this worth it or is it just a gimmick? What do you guys think.

Tried to search but couldn't find any info on it.

Thanks for all the help!

dont do it, get the tire insurance instead. its probably just a very expensive wax.
sometimes they offer the protection as if you get a ding or a scratch bring it back to us and well fix it free of charge. see if thats what they mean if so then its a good deal

He did mention it covers small dents, sap etc so I'm not sure.

I am purchasing from a dealer that is 3.25 hours from my house so I wonder if I were to purchase this if I would have to go to them if I had to do a claim or if I could just go to my local dealers service department. I've emailed him these questions I just didn't know if this was a service offered at most bmw dealers and if anyone had any info.

they offered something similar to my dad 4 years ago when he leased. it def covered small dings and small scratches, it had to be done at the dealer.

Okay he has clarified.

It does NOT cover scratches. Painless dings and dents ARE covered. He says the Teflon coating will make cleaning sap, bird droppings etc MUCH easier to clean off as well.

He said the warranty for the dings / dents follows the VIN and can be used at any bmw dealership. What do you guys think?

yeah but how long does the teflon last? When buying my wifes car dealer said they have a special machine that doesnt allow dirt to stick to the paint, t came standard on my wifes car and lasted about three months, after that was 600 to reapply, told the dealer no thanks.
how many dings do you have on your car now? I think dent dr charges about 100 bucks a dent. do you feel its worth it, then get it, its not like theyre banging you out for that much money.
as far as me, im only getting the tire insurance when the finance guy tries to sell me everything else.

+1

I asked the dealer to keep all the vinyl on the car they possibly could. drove it home 40 miles. washed it, inspected it, did minor corrections, and opti coated it myself (cost 70 buck)

this stuff is amazing. my car is alpine white. even when bugs hit my car they come right off with a hose or some ONR.

That is the way to go. I am going with C-quartz myself since I am told the Opti-coat finish on BSM is not as good as the C-quartz. I was offered the protection deal at my dealer. I was quoted 690.00 and declined since I thought that was a bit much for wax. I wound up becoming pretty friendly with my CA, who told me when I picked the car up that 690 was a ripoff and that the stuff they use is just glorified wax. I tried to get them down in price so I could have the warranty and they would not drop even a penny. My CA wound up throwing the box of the stuff they use in the trunk when I picked the car up. The stuff is snake oil. Opti-Coat or C-Quartz is the way to go. Also 3m clear bra on the front bumper too.
