JB4 Maps and Sunoco Race fuel 98 260 GTX

Hey all,

My local Sunoco offers 98 rated 260 GTX. There was an option for 106 and higher but it was labeled leaded fuel. I'm sure that's not recommended.

Sunoco calls this race fuel and I know that is a requirement for Map 7, but is 98 octane suitable? Or just stick with map 2/5?

You probably should log it but map5 wold be safe. Really depends on what mods you have on the car, etc.

With 98 octane you will probably max out map5 and its only about a PSI different from Map7

Sounds about right. Start conservative and log then go up slowly on Map 7 with the boost. 1 PSI at a time.

What are your mods?

If you are FBO, I recommend you post couple datalogs before using map 7 extensively

To stay on the safe side just use it with Map5, it will get you noticeable additional power

I'm looking for 100 octane unleaded and I will try Map 7. Right now with the 98 octane I ran it on map 5. Definitely noticed a power improvement.
Mods:
  • BMS intake
  • Jb4
  • Downpipe
  • Chargepipe
