Torn - BMS or Injen
There's a nice sale on Injen intakes right now which puts the price real close to the BMS intakes (they weren't far apart to begin with in price). I'm torn on which to go with.
I've done searches on the forum and read opinions on both. I really like the look of the BMS and use of the bottom half of the OEM air box, but I also really like that the Injen comes with a heat shield that looks to seal off when the hood is closed. The Injen does not appear to use the bottom half of the OEM box. Is there really any advantage to either design? I've read where both intakes can through occasional codes or cause rough idle in addition to being prone to heat soak. Either way, I am NOT in the market for a higher end intake (such as Dinan, etc) and understand there will be tradeoffs with a budget intake. I accept this as does my budget. If you had to choose between ONLY BMS or Injen, who would you go with? Maybe a forum member has used both and can provide a direct personal comparison. |

These 2 intakes are the most popular choice for our customers
You are overthinking it, both look great once installed. They sound the same and performance wise they will be identical Just pick the one you like more and call it a day

What Mike said.
Go with whichever one you like more from an aesthetics standpoint. Because performance or anything else for that matter makes absolutely no difference. I have the BMS and absolutely love the sound. |

I have the injen and love the sound/look, also excellent install instructions so easy a caveman could install that thing. Cant comment on BMS but can promise you will like the Injen one and in 6 months I have seen 0 codes thrown and no rough idle

Do you have jb4? I know many people were throwing codes when not running jb4 and the bms intake. I have had my injen before jb4 and no problems with codes or rough idle. I've been very happy with injen, I also like that it is aluminum and the wrinkle black finish is great.

Did you decide which intake you are going to go with?

I'm leaning BMS right now. I like how the intake utilizes the front attachment post on the car in addition to the wide blue filter. The Injen doesn't use the same attachment point and doesn't hide what's below it.
Anyone on this thread using the AFE dynamic air intake scoop? |

with just a jb4 on the n55 engine is there any HP gains with the intake or is it just for sound for the most part?
I can understand if you are full bolt on, e85, etc but for just a Jb4 car, is there any performance gains you feel or is it just for sound? |

Mostly sound ... If you dyno the car you might see minor gains (~5whp) after 5000 rpm but it would not be noticeable when driving

Guess I'll ask this, are the dry filters suppose to be better for cars with maf sensors? I need on some platforms the oil from a oil filter would mess up the maf sensor causing it to misread or not work at all.
