Anyone else use the Turo App? Renting a Porsche 911...

I just heard about this app from a buddy. I suppose you would call it... AirBNB for cars??

Anyways a good buddy told me that he used Turo to rent someone's new X5 when he visited San Diego a few weeks ago for like $80/day and he said I had to check it out since I'm a car guy. Fast forward, the wifey and I are headed out to Denver in a few weeks for a wedding and instead of booking a base model Chevy Cruze to bop around in, I decided to check out Turo to see what was in the DEN area.

Well, I found a dude renting out his manual '07 Porsche 911 4S for $130/day. There was also a brand new Porsche GT3 with a rollcage available for $330/day (!). Figured that probably wasn't the best option for early December in the mountains lol

Anyways, I booked the 4S and we head out the first weekend in December. Glad to share the experience when we get back, but in the meantime I'm curious to hear if anyone else has had any friends use the service. Good? Bad? Indifferent?

Here's the $25 off referral link they sent me for first time users:
https://turo.com/referral?code=2095870rsv7sw

The 911 that we booked (not a fan of the black rims, but it's a 911 none the less.

And maybe next time...

I rented an f80 m3 and drove it from la to Monterey and back for Pebble Beach. Got lucky and found one with unlimited mileage. It was definitely a good experience and that's a great price on the 997!

That. Is. Awesome. I think unlimited mileage is a HUGE plus. I only get 100 miles/day + $.50/mile overage. Which isn't bad, since we won't have a ton of time to check out the scenery. How much was the f80 if you don't mind me asking?

Some people around us are pushing for something else to be legal with some of their asking prices.

There is a GTR relatively priced, however, it's no GT3.

$330 for a GT3? I'll roll up to the SGV, pick you up, and head out to AU79 for some Boba.

There's a F83 Vert for 152 on there in SF 0 - ca. 1006 per week - biggest issue for me is the vast majority of cars have fairly constrictive mileage limits (if you were truly touring a 100 mi per day would evaporate pretty quick) - but very cool nonetheless and will def look into it more - thx for sharing!

I rented a new Miata ND (wow, right?) in San Francisco to take down to San Jose and around Santa Cruz. It was something like $35/day. Worth every freaking penny and ever since I've been itching for a lightweight car.

Whatever you do, get the Premium insurance option. Had somebody back in to the Miata I rented while in a parking lot and it was a headache to deal with 3 insurance companies.

They have three options; premium insurance, state minimum and no insurance (assuming its your own insurance?? can't confirm). Being that this is someone elses personal car, I don't know how my own insurance would work, so I opted for the premium for the 911. Nihilation how did the insurance work for your accident? Assuming you opted out of the Turo insurance?
