Also note that this is an entire control unit, IHKA3 to be exact. It will need to be properly coded to the car and it also uses a different can bus. The older IHKA uses KCAN while the LCI one uses BODY CAN.

Actually...

MY2015 production vehicles have IHKA3 installed as their HVAC ECU. However they have the older climate control display found on the 2012-2014.

After my review of the IHKA3 modules between my 05/2015 production MY2015 and a MY2016 LCI model, I found that both have a field for color changing (i'll put it up when I get my laptop running) which is nicht_aktiv on the MY2015 while aktiv on the MY2016.

Therefore if your car does indeed have IHKA3 (the HVAC ECU), you should be able to swap the control over and it should work if you code that one field.

I purchased a set of Radio and HVAC controls from eBay for $140USD (with the correct LCI part number (64 11 9 363 546 if you have silver trim and heated seats) and will report back once I receive them!

Let me know how this goes. I'm curious to know how this turns out. I have an LCI now so I'm going to be missing out on a lot of this retrofitting fun.
