You can't just code in BMW Apps, adding it also requires an FSC code that you have to purchase.

Things change if you have the option for the new nav (NBT) because the combox is built into the head unit. There are so many regional differences that it difficult to make any kind of absolute statement anymore. I don't have any experience with the new NBT based cars.

I have coded 2 F30's to enable extended Bluetooth. You simply change 6NH to 6NK in the FA and VO code the HU_CIC and CMB_MEDIA ECUs.

For F34, there is no choice of 6NK/6NL. The choice is 6NH [basic] or 6NS [enhanced BT]. Can 6NH be coded into 6NS with 609?

So long as you have a Combox, 6NS should work like 6NK does.

Only if you have Enhanced Bluetooth.

Only if you have a standalone Combox (CMB_MEDIA) or NBT Head Unit with built-in Combox (HU_NBT).

You have to connect with E-Sys, Read FA and SVT, and look to see if either CMB_MEDIA or HU_NBT modules are present.

You can also tell if you have NBT just by looking at the CID screen; however, it is not available on U.S. F3x until MY 2014, so you won't have NBT. And as for Standalone Combox, you will only have that in the U.S. if your have 609 Navigation Professional.

If you have a non-NBT based car, you can check under your trunk cover. Lift the whole thing up. At the back on the right are the fuses, and at the back on the left is the combox (sliver box with fins and wires). If you just have a gaping hole on the back left, you don't have the combox.

All US 2014 3- and 4-Series with Navigation (NBT) will have the Combox built-in with all the enhanced features standard.

There is nothing for you to worry about.

I just picked up my new 2013 328xi with the professional nav system here in Canada. I was initially going to pay for the remote $500 BMW Apps coding session but might go the route of 6NS, i only want the album art capability.

You do not need an FSC Code for Enhanced Bluetooth.

If you want BMW Apps, that does require an FSC Code.
