ESR Wheels on 2018 430I GC

Hey everyone,

I was looking to get some help regarding fitment/ how wide I can go on a new set of aftermarket wheels I’m hoping to buy. The wheels in question are ESR CR1’s . I will attach the avaliable options. My pattern is 5x120 and I have a 2018 430i Gran Coupe. I appologize in advance because I only know the basics so that’s why I’m hoping to find out essentually which choice I should go with . I attached screenshots of a lot of the options but of course they pretty much offer probably almost everything. There’s different widths and different offsets and that’s particularly what I’m confused about . Thank you so much!

from the size list, the only sizes you can use are 18x8.5 +30 or 18x9.5 +35. are you planning on a square or staggered setup and what size tires are you planning on using?

ESR's are cast and heavy and the lip style of the CR1 will make the wheel look like a 17", just FYI.

i'd get these Aodhan AH02 instead, similar looking but way lighter than the ESR CR1. it'll still look small, though.

Thank you! Honestly my original plan was to swap my current tires on the new wheels. Right now I have 225/45 r18 all around. Would that work? Or should I just try and find a set used? It’s kinda between that and trying to get either those aodohan or Esr wheels. Thanks again.

Oh also I mean I don’t really mind any weight or anything , the car isn’t fast at all. Just looking for some aesthetics for the car and eventually get some springs / coilovers.

used tires? i wouldn't buy used tires unless i knew implicitly about them. if you are going to use the 225/45/18's (you have now), 8.5" the only width it'll fit on, albeit slightly stretched.

Okay so I could get 4 of the wheels in 18x 8.5 and I’d be okay. Yeah my plan was to transfer my current tires. I’m not necessarily trying to buy new to me used tires but rather transfer my current tires that are on my stocks. Is there a way to find out what’s the biggest I can go just in general? Like the biggest wheels I can get on my car?

absolute widest wheels are 10.5" +45 w/295's rear, 9.5" +35 w/265 front
practical widest, 10" +45 w/285' rear, 9" +35 w/255 front, guarantee no issues anywhere

Aodhan are super priced for a flow form and definitely worth spending more for.

Great information, I’m so greatful. Thank you! Okay so it seems like I’m set on the aodohan wheels, and so if I use my current tires fhe widest I can do is 18x 8.5, correct? But if I want wider such as 9.5 then I will need new tires. Let me know if that’s correct. Also, what’s the setup on that picture you sent? I love how that looks.
Thanks

yes, 225 will be decently stretched on 8.5". 255(mild stretch) is the minimum tire size i'd use is on 9.5", i suppose you can run a stretched 245 on 9.5". as you can tell i'm not a fan of overly stretched tires.

i cannot see the tire size in photos, but since the lips look somewhat exposed, it appears he ran moderately stretched on 9.5"

Do you think it’s worth it fitment wise to go 9.5 or I’ll be fine with 8.5, from what I’m assuming I might need spacers if I don’t go 9.5 . But that’s of course gonna run me more money. Is that correct? I’m looking for the fitment in the pic you sent .

Orrrrr I can run staggered? Get 8.5 front and 9.5 rear and just buy 2 new tires for the rear?

i think Karlhankinson had square 18x9.5 ET35 w/ 255/40/18. i recommend that and be done with it. rotate however you desire

if you prefer staggered 225/45/18 on 18x8.5 +35 w/7.5mm spacer or 245/40/18 w/5mm spacer, front. 255/40/18 on 18x9.5 +35 rear
.

I’m In this somewhat similar situation, you are. I have a 2017 BMW 430i GC, and I’ve been looking for some wheels with a like the ESR CR1 you’ve been looking in to. I was originally looking at Apex FL5 wheels but Found out they were discontinued.

https://esrwheels.com/collections/ap...achine-lip-new
I am wondering if you have looked into the ESR AP1 wheels. I’ve been 👌🏿 this close to buying the sets of wheels in satin black, but I haven’t just yet since I haven’t seen them on any BMW’s or any car in general (I think they recently just released these sets of wheels). I’ve been debating on getting either of these wheels, Konig hypergram, and Enkei PF01EVO.
