thanks for the post Jason! Are you planning a F30 vs F32 comparison thread?
Yup the chin looks identical to me. Or could there be a secret study somewhere in Germany that gives advice to auto designers? E92 shares similar weird flip tail lights then audi came out with a similar but smoother design. Or is it the DTM's fault? Everything's smash together and designers get ideas from all the ruined parts in the pits. LOL

3-series coupe is no more.

3-series coupes will be badged ' 4-series ' for foreseeable future

coupes in BMW lineup will get 'even' numbers 2-4-6-(8?) ~Frost

6.8" longer than an e46 sounds much worse than 1.6" longer than the e92. I guess we can't bitch too much about it being so much bigger? At least the length and width increase is proportionate. I feel like I would be more excited if those two numbers didn't change, even if an inch and a half is a very small increase ... for a car at least ....

Very slightly shorter overhangs on the new car which is cool.

I would say a M-Sport would hold its own, but the E92/3 in general were kind of bland.

most e92 owners are going to say the e92 looks better than the f32, but once it comes out, it'll take some time getting used to and some will want to transition just like how every1 hated on the f30 but moved on to the f30.

The f32 looks great, and so does the e92, but f32 by far is a better looking car, especially when you add the m sport.

yea you are confused...

Here are the cliff notes:

See:

The 3 series started out as a coupe model with the E21.

Then when the E30 came out, they made the coupe and the sedan identical, the difference would be only the number of doors...

Similarly the E36 and E46 models came out with both coupes and sedans version sharing the same structure and model number (as it was with the E30)

When the next 3 series sedan got revealed, it was identified as the E90.
Then the 3 series coupe started its diversion by getting a different model code: the E92.

As you know the F30 is the latest 3 series sedan model.

From here on, it's just f***$@ up...
The 3 series coupe doesn't exist anymore.

Appears this 4 series, which is a coupe, identified as F32.

So in short the 4 series is the new 3 series coupe.

And later(soon) BMW will make a 4 series Gran Coupe, which is a 4 door version of a 2 door car (F32) of the 4 door (F30) which originally started as a 2 door (E21).

Yea?

The question is: will we ever have a 3 series coupe again ? or will its true successor be the 2 series coupe, which is an evolution of the 1 series coupe ?

Will the real E30 M3 successor please stand up ?!
That was funny and yet, I still learned some 3er history!

Hate to say it, but...

Even though I have an F30 (which I feel is better in every way possible over the E90), I think the E92 is by far the prettier car. Beautiful, clean, understated, just like a Bavarian should be. The new 4 just looks busy, cluttered, and quite un-appealing from the front. Maybe the M-Sport will be better (just as the F30 M-Sport looks sooooo much better than the other Lines).
