Problem with Google maps send to car

I have tried to get send an address to the car several times from Google maps but it hasn't worked and I don't know if I am doing something wrong. I have set up Google with my car using the email address that I am registered with for Connected services. I get a confirmation from Google that the address has been sent, but I don't receive the message in the car. Am I missing something?

Check that you are using the right username, vehicle ID and passwords in the right fields. I had trouble setting up Send To Car correctly the first time. I'm not at my Mac right now, but I remember that I had one of the files completed incorrectly.

As mentioned it's your Connected drive User Name (likely different to your email) and password.

Although tbh, I have been using the BMW Remote App and get pretty much every place and can drop pins.

+1

But if you are at home and planning a long, or complicated route, using BMW Routes on your desktop or laptop works very well. For me anyway

Such a shame as its a great service.

BMW Remote app on my phone works perfectly, which TBH looks like Google maps anyway, just annoying that I can't send from my laptop. I have emailed Connected Drive support, lets see what they say. BMW is supposed to support send to car from Google maps

Connected Drive and Google Maps are compatible, and in my experience they work very well, but clearly there's a problem somewhere in your setup.

The car must be fitted with the Professional or Business Navigation System with Bluetooth, with BMW Online and ConnectedDrive options.

This article may help you setup/check your config in Google Maps :

https://support.google.com/maps/answer/3500417?hl=en

In Google Maps Send to Car setup the following fields need to contain the correct information :

Manufacturer : no prizes for getting this right :-)
Account or Device ID : your CD user name
Name : car registration number

That should sort the problem.

I had it set up like that apart from the name, I hadn't used the registration, so I have tried that, but made no difference. Address sent via BMW remote get to teh car fine, via Google Maps, nothing

Had a reply back from BMW Connected services, looks like there is a technical issue

Thanks for your email about Google send to car.

Please forgive my delay in replying. It appears that there might be an issue with this service and our technical team are currently investigating this. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and I trust normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.

If there’s anything else I can help with in the meantime, please get in touch
