I can see different levels of what the general public will call swirls and marring. As a detailer, my belief is every time you touch or work with your paint, you can introduce defects.

An inspection before and after wipe downs is non-existent in most cases and it will be hard to determine the level of defect applied to each wipe down, even with proper products that could lubricate the wipe down.

I have Black Sapphire Metallic, the moment you touch or drag your clean finger on the clean paint, it induces defects.
Yes, your points are true, but a bit overly alarming.

Paint on a daily driver will never stay perfect; no matter what.

However, if you clean, Polish, clay bar, apply sealant, then wax or spray wax after each wash, you'll protect your paint from bad marring. Do this process every 6-8 months.

Keep Wet Wipes and detailer spray to immediately remove bird poo and you'll be in great shape.

Keep the griots travel car care kit in the trunk. Waterless car wash, window cleaner and interior cleaner keeps the car looking perfect

I actually having been traveling the PA turnpike a lot recently for work. I clean off bugs at the rest stop if I'm driving at night.. After 150 miles you cannot see out of the windshield.

Sounds like you could also maybe benefit from applying Aquapel on your windshield. It's good for making bugs easier to get off with the wiper spray too.

The application is perfect on my wife's X3, but on my F32, the wipers skip a bit, so I guess I missed a few spots on the windshield of my car. Just make sure if you use it, to go over the glass multiple times up and down and side to side.

I assume it's like a better rain X or almost like a wax for the glass?

Sort of like a Rain X I guess but much better. Also lasts a good 6-8 months. Lots of info and YouTube videos on it. It really works.

I guess you can get away with this on a silver car... definitely would recommend against using quick detailer to clean entire panels with a darker color paint. Especially true in the situation you mentioned where a truck on the highway kicked up a bunch of dirt and grit.

Update on Quick Detailer. A buddy let me use his Adams Quick Detailer, WOW! Can feel the slick even after 4 days, which is amazing. No rain.

Long story short; I still have around a half gallon of CG Hybrid V07, and it's good, but not great.

Once this product is used up, I'm switching to Adams. Already use Adams Car Shampoo, so may as well complete the set.

Don't put anything Turtle Wax near a BMW. That stuff is for something like a kids Nissan Sentra or Scion.

Get out of Auto Zone or the car care isle in Target. Move up to Griots, Chemical Guys, or the best, Adams car care lines.

For wax, not much beats Wolfgang Fusion, or Pinnacle. Costs a small fortune though, but lasts.

Spray detailer - CGs Hybrid V07, or Adams. Buy by the gallon online and save. Get some good car shampoo while your at it.

Again, no more Turtle Wax. Time to step up the game. I want your car to look like melted butter!

I'm starting to wonder if keeping all my detailers, wax, sealant, scratch X, M101 in the car when it's 90 degrees out is fine..

It isn't. I just keep some all purpose wipes (safe for paint) in the trunk. They'll dry by summers end down here in Georgia.

My detail spray is only in the car when traveling.

Although bird poo must come off immediately, I wait to spray the detailer until I get home.

After hearing all the great comments about chemical guys products, I decided to drop a hundred bucks on some of their stuff. I can't wait to use it. Ordered carpet cleaner, spray detailer, air freshener spray, metal polish, leather care, window/glass spray, pet hair brush.

I have hundreds of dollars worth of CG stuff. Buckets, grit guards, polishes, quick detailers, microfibers, wheel wax, leather care, trim care, tire care. I love it all.

I quick detail all of the time. It drives my wife crazy! She says its gonna get dirty. When I had my Viper I would quick detail it after every sprint even if it was only a couple of mile drive before it got covered back up. That way every time it ever left the garage it was perfect. I keep my x3 very clean but slack on her GT since I dont have to drive it!

That's a bit foul man. Always need to make your wife's ride look good. That way other men know she's well taken care of.

Otherwise.... What you don't do the other guy is more than happy too.
