I took a picture of the error on my phone, and showed them. That was enough.

Aargh, I almost took a picture last night when I saw it but didnt think it was that important. I'll call the service advisor and see if i can bring it in without a picture.

First time I went in, they coded it, and the issue came back a week later.
It's back in the shop again again, they're ordering an air bag module which will take a week or so. Seems like nothing is fixing this issue though, so I'm prepared to lemon it. |

My X1 28i MSport was just at the dealer for 7weeks due to passenger restraint fault... They went through 5 attempts to fix it and replaced the passenger weight pad 4 times and they wouldnt code/program... As of now its been error free for 3weeks.

There's a sensor under the seat that goes out. There are numerous bypass methods on YouTube that show you a cheaper fix than spending massive $ on an out of warranty car. I think the sensor bypass is under $50 if you want to DIY. Involves 2 wires to attach, etc. I know this because my ex's 2009 E90 is having the same issue.

Does anyone know how much this would cost out of warranty? I've had this issue pop up twice. Also I've been noticing a rattling noise coming from the seat belt/door area? Do you think it's attributable to this malfunction?

Has everyone been reporting this to NHTSA? That is how recalls get started. If it is a known common issue that is safety related they will make BMW do something about it.

I have a 2013 328i (F20) and am getting this error. I cleared the code initially but now is persists. The Charlottesville dealership states I cannot get an state inspection sticker until this is fixed. It costs $150 to diagnose the problem and likely $500+ to fix it. I just submitted the issue to the NHTSA. BMW dealership service people are rude and not helpful. Apparently, this is not under the 10 year warranty, although several other posts on this topic seem to indicate this was covered after calling the national transportation number and then having them speak on their behalf to BMW. This silly and common issue and difficulty fixing it is one of many reasons I regret having bought a BMW in 2013. I sincerely hope it becomes a recall and easy fix.
