Installed Injen Intake & JB Stage 1 on '14 N55

If you are ultra conservative then don't install the Injen intake. Man, this thing is loud! I love it but can certainly see how it could be a bit much for the ultra conservative person. I installed this by itself for about a week. Certainly can feel it pull a bit harder but nothing too ridiculous. Honestly, it feels faster probably due to the sound.

Install wasn't too bad. The people at Injen told me they didn't have an intake for the '14 available which i thought was interesting. Maybe they are saying that because there was a electrical cover nearby that i had to take off in order for the intake to fit. I will be able to put it back on, just have to rig it a bit, not a big deal.

Just installed the JB Stage 1 yesterday. Took me about 10 minutes. VERY EASY.

Started the car up and all was perfect. No CEL. Took it for a cruise and can EASILY feel a difference.

Today, however i was cruising in 6th gear and felt a hesitation/sputter. Then my CEL appeared. Car runs fine though so i'm hoping somebody locally can help me out with finding out what the code is and then clear it....

I plan on putting her on a dyno which i will post.... Unfortunately i didn't do a baseline.

This is a no brainer and all for an affordable price. (of course pending that my CEL is nothing serious)

Have to "rig a cover a bit" to get back on? That's not too cool. Also, how did you cover/seal the the provision for the vacuum hose made for the AT cars? Injen insists their intake is not intended for MT. Did they include a cap of some sort? Or did that require some "rigging" as well.

I have 1200 miles on the car.... When i was in 6th and first felt it sputter i was not hard on the throttle.

Earlier today though, i punched it in 3rd gear and the power wasn't very smooth. Any thoughts/ideas would be appreciated.

this is why I am so hesitant in dealing with piggybacks like this. There are plenty of great reviews...but also a lot of people having troubles

Don't want to be a buzzkill but I don't think I would would to "rig" anything that wasn't designed to be on my particular model of car and I definitely wouldn't want to be dealing with sputtering and error codes on a brand new BMW.

I am waiting for the Dinan tune. Had it on my e92 for a couple years and loved it!! Never had the slightest issue.

BTW, Dinan will be a piggyback, same as BMS and AFE.
But a more expensive one, since they should take on the warranty.

Injen doesn't have an intake for any 2014, or just the MT 2014?

I did not have to cover/seal. I had to specifically let them know i had a MT.

The sound is amazing. The wife isn't a big fan though haha

Interesting. On Injen's site, they state it's not available for MT and there is only one part number. They must have two versions of the intake (aside from polished or black)...one with the fitting for the vacuum line and one without. Which vendor did you order it through?

Why dont you try taking the intake off and see if the problem still occurs. A few people have stated they are having trouble with the BMS intake, maybe its just intakes in general make some cars act funny.

That makes sense but I had the intake installed for about a week by itself and no issues at all....

Injens home site has no intakes at all for a 2014 BMW, any BMW. So I'm going to assume they don't have one and I still need to hope they release it.

There is absolutely no difference with intake fitment for a 2013 or 2014 335/435. However, Injen being such a large and reputable company, will not list fitment until they have confirmation in their own R&D center which likely has yet to happen. They develop so many intakes that I'm sure it's hard to keep up with changes for every car year over year, so it speaks to their level of testing and attention to detail why they wouldn't list it. We know it fits, but they won't until of course they get a 2014 in their facility to confirm.

The part that gets me is they only list one type of intake, and that's for the AT, while modbargians.com gives you the option to choose AT or MT.

Yea this was basically my hope. I would still feel much more comfortable if it's official. They also might not warranty it before they give the ok.

As for the second part, Injen's site is pretty friggin bad. I don't know what they are waiting for; shit needs to be updated.

Update: I think i may have had a bad tank of gas (91) because after refilling the car rides perfectly....

Is ARCO good or bad?

Is there a brand that is generally better than others?

I'm MUCH happier now and my CEL is no longer showing.

I will correct myself on this statement...there is a molded plastic cover shielding some wiring on 2014s which is not there on 2013s. This is what OP had to remove and/or rig to make the Injen's heat shield fit.
