Helmets for track?
Any suggestions on helmets? I really don't need anything special, figure our cars are tough enough. Just a open face helmet.
Thx

Don't buy one without trying it on. Proper fit is very important and each manufacturer's fit is different.

Personally, I'd get a full-face, again, they're more widely accepted and the safer bet. Yes, fit is of utmost importance. Your scalp should move along with the helmet when "rolled" front to back. Stolen from the web: WHAT TYPE OF HELMET SHOULD I BUY? We recommend Snell SA rated full face helmets to most of our customers. These helmets offer the most protection and will work for pretty much any type of auto-related activity you want to participate in. Certain activities like autocross or karting will also allow the less expensive Snell M or K rated helmets, so be sure to check your clubs helmet rules before making a purchase. |

As others have said... best to try it on first. That being said, a great entry level helmet is the Bell M4. Never skimp on safety equipment. It's there for a reason.
Check out Saferacer.com . That's where a lot of racers get their safety gear online. |

Make sure you get the latest snell "vintage" helmet to ensure whoever you are tracking with accepts it for as long as possible....
Audi and BMW club look inside the helmets to check.. Seems like Snell 2015 will be out in October.. http://www.racinghelmetguide.com/aut...t-ratings.html I have a Snell 2005, and that is still OK so figure 10 years life for most clubs.
