BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Seen load of people run the Go Faster Bits DV+ but read it needs some maintenance?

A few other state the Turbosmart one is best but I cant seem to find one that states it fits and N55 335i.

What do people run for an upgrade DV ?

the turbosmart dv hasn't been out as long as the gfb one so more people have that one. kies has it. thats were I got mine from. They both perform the same, the plumb back is just quieter.

I assume I can use the Turbosmart VR9 on my PWG car? Does it work for both PWG and EWG? Many thanks

Been running GFB DV+ for +5 years. Zero maintenance done, but then again - the N55 is self lubricating on the external components also

I've been running GFB DV+ for 2 years with no issues or maintenance required.

Sorry for the question if it's dumb but what is the advantage or gain from upgrading the diverter valve?

It doesn't necessarily provide any direct benefit if your stock DV is doing its job. Some people report improved throttle response and/or lower WGDC. The basic idea is that the upgraded DV can respond quicker (throttle response) and hold boost better (WGDC) than the OEM one. Keep in mind the OEM one was really only designed to work in the 7-11 psi range and people are pushing as high as ~20 psi on stock turbo. I am still on stock DV with no issues running up to about 17psi but i may still do the turbosmart at some point and try to quantitatively test.

Would the DV to atmosphere version cause it to run rich as its expecting meter air back in the system? Or not an issue on a modern car where the DME can respond quickly ?

Just wondering if I should get the replumb version or the "dual port" which does both

The working theory is that the DME can respond fast enough. A few people have reported running it without issue. This used to be a problem on turbo cars from the 90s, and my 3000gt used to stall if you did a WOT pull and went immediately to neutral when it had a VTA BOV (stock was reicirc). Seems to be a nonissue on modern cars though. The dual port will be much louder FYI.

I have the plumback and it is quieter than stock even with my bms intake.

With stock and the intake I would get the swoosh sound. Now its barely perceivable.

You can also achieve noise with a open air intake and plumb back, FYI. My stock DV with CTS turbo intake was extremely loud.

If you just want the swoosh noise, I would try an intake 1st. They are pretty cheap and much MUCH easier to install.

Think 6 minutes vs 6hrs of anger and frustration.

Thing is I've read open cone will cause heatsoak, CEL lights, less performance is a high price for noise. Any have experience with any of the above?

I've always been of the school of thought that the open air intakes underhood may eventually heatsoak the IC sooner since you are drawing in hotter air to begin with, but under normal driving conditions its probably negligible (and my data showed that) since its pre-IC.

Not all cause CELs. For example CTS does not, because it has a properly designed MAF housing.

They don't really cause "less performance". Any increase is debatable, but unless you have a really poorly designed intake it shouldnt make your car slower. It may change your throttle response and drivability characteristics.

Read my intake thread here as it basically answers all these questions and more: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1765289

So you’d recommend the CTS intake?
