Non US markets got that option and we didn't, and frankly I think the only reason BMW did that is to get greater sales for the M Performance brakes. They released the M Performance brakes in the US market, while holding off on giving us the M Sport option, for NO good reason. They fit, and they work just fine on F30's around the world except for the US F30's? I don't think so. "M sport" brake option is a great deal considering it comes with the same Brembo calipers as the M Performance brakes AND larger rotors. The only difference between the optional M Sport brakes and M Performance brakes would be that M Performance get dimpled, slotted, and vented rotors, plus you get the option of yellow, red, or orange calipers, but no blue, as blue calipers identify the brakes as M Sport. In the US market F30 Msport line comes with a different pad compound compared to the pad used for the other lines. Msport gets the "Euro" pad, which is claimed to have higher friction material, but it's also a more dusty pad. For the price, the M Sport brakes are a better deal than M Performance, if the M Sport brakes do come with the same Brembo calipera and larger rotors. The dimpling and slotting looks great, but it's mostly cosmetic. The dimples and slots do have the potential to provide a bit better brake performance due to the ability to expel pad material gases, and maybe better ventilation with more venting in the space between the two rotor sides, which would help keeping brake fade away for longer. But that is not worth the added cost for the M Performance over the M Sport. The price for M Sport brakes is lower because BMW doesn't then give you 2 brakes sets, and there isn't any additional install charge. With M Performance the customer has to pay for all the new brake parts and to get them installed, whereas the M Sport brakes are installed at the factory. With M Performance you've already paid for the OEM brake parts, and after the new brakes are on you have a set of the OEM brakes. I don't know if there is a market for those used parts to help recover some cost. If BMW would have offered the M Sport brake option for 2013 I would have ordered that option no question. Off topic rant: Talking about the new steering racks for later 2013 and potentially new rack for 2014 models. So this is great for new buyers, but those of us who helped BMW sell the initial F30 offerings it kind of sucks. The thing that really ticks me off is the new steering rack. I believe the current 2013's have the gen rack. There has been 1 new version, and it may actually be 2 versions newer than my 335i that I ordered for July 2013 build. It hasn't even been a year and BMW has already made and installed 2 versions of the rack with potentially a whole new 4th gen rack for 2014 build. There have been a few people who had an early 2013 who then got new replacement F30's, due to other problems they were having, and they've said that the new rack is distinctly BETTER, offers better feel and better heft. That's just BS for those of us who truly value BMW performance over cosmetics and technology like new leather colors and better NAV. We all know that the steering feel in the 2012 and early 2013 F30's is NOT up to BMW standards and those of us who appreciate the legendary BMW steering and feel know there was something wrong. But, we don't get a fix, no new racks for us. BS! Clearly BMW knows something isn't right about the initial racks and that's why they've already improved and redesigned it TWICE in less than a year. Yes, it's great that BMW addressed an issue that was widely criticized by most auto media. It's great that they are using a newly designed rack, but where's the remedy for those of us who already purchased? When the E46 came out BMW lightened the steering so much that there was media and owner outcry, and BMW addressed it and with the new model year they fixed it. But, they also offered the fix to owners who already bought their cars with the light steering. Thus, all were now pleased. BMW needs to do that for those of us who've already committed and purchased. It's not just about the lack of "feel" or the light effort, it's also about all the steering vibration, and odds noises from the rack. Mine in particular didn't have the vibration problem, but it's got an odd metallic thunk when turning left or right especially in winter. I will be taking this up with BMWNA corporate. Sorry for the rant, but I had to. Last edited by RPM90; 06-07-2013 at 09:56 PM.. |

Added performance options should never be given up for techno niceties like HUD or NAV. For those of us who value the BMW driving experience more than the "lux" items, M Sport brakes X10> than HUD. You're buying a driving machine not a living room. |

Besides, if you really an ultimate driving machine, you should be buying a dedicated track car and go bananas at an event not on public roads. My car spends 99.9% of its life in traffic, near pedestrians and cops. If I'm just cruising along, you'd better believe I want my comfy seats, internet radio, HUD, Nav, smartphone integration, cameras, upgraded stereo, etc. |

BMW has offered me another Trade Assist and ordered a fully loaded 2014 335i xDrive M-Sport on Friday. Car is already allocated to be built 1st week in July and will take delivery early/mid August.
In addition they have agreed to move $10K in aftermarket from the current F30 to the new one free of charge. |

Guys my BMW 335i M-Sport was may 2013 german production (last month) the steering feel is near perfect, no comparison to the f30 that I test drove in the past, no new nav but mine was great anyways, and the US breaks has a great feel and grip, unless you track your car you will be really happy with the m-sport breaks

Some of the p/n changes are software updates only. The onboard rack electronics are coded.
