Dealer checked it out, waiting to hear back! We'll see. If they do something, it will be as a courtesy since I'm a new client and only 3 weeks in (at the time). It doesn't really cost a fortune fix a bent rim.

More power to ya! If they fix you got a great dealer.

Potholes erupt in early spring, when it still goes below freezing at night but warms above freezing during the day. That freeze/thaw cycle causes the pavement to fracture, leading to potholes. It's a good idea to keep the winters on until it stops freezing at night, especially if you have low profile tires.

That's not so bad - it should be easy for the dealer to fix. As long as the tire is holding air, and it isnt vibrating like crazy, I think you'll be fine to drive on it as long as you want. I know independent shops charge about 150 bucks to fix a bent / dented rim. If the dealer doesn't cover it, you can probably get away with a reputable shop fixing it. BMW doesn't fix them in-house anyway - they outsource to the same local shops that pop up when you Google rim repair. Note, in Ontario you can submit a claim for a bent / dented rim if there is a pothole or road damage that is outside a certain threshold. Maybe there is something along those lines in Quebec as well...worth checking out.

Either way, I'm not a professional rim inspector, so take my advice with a grain of salt. I went through the same thing as you, and drove 4 months on a much worse rim without having any issues....for what it's worth.

Here in Boston, we have similar weather to your guys in Montreal and it's pothole city every year until early Spring. I lost a snow tire on 17 inch rims this year due to a pothole. I thought I was OK with the smaller rim but apparently the from edge of the pothole was sharp enough to cut the sidewall. No suspension damage and a tiny little nick on the rim was all that occurred. But I had to replace the tire. Good luck and and yes, operator error for sure in your situation. Hitting a pothole that will bend a rim normally bottoms out the suspension which should cause one heck of a BANG in the car. You never forget it once you experience that butt clenching sound! :-)
