The 8AT will have less lag because you can build boost at a stop from putting a load on the engine, where the 6MT is just free revving and there is no load being put on the engine. That where a 2 step or antilag will come in to retard the timing and add fuel to build boost at a stop.

Yes, you brake boost foot hard on the brake and your other foot all the way down on the gas pedal.

The transmission has a torque converter and will stop at about 3100 rpms, let it sit at that rpm for a second or two to build boost and let off the brake.

I am not the one who complained about turbo lag in a turbo 4 but somehow I am the dumb f*khead. Makes perfect sense then. So now ur calling all people who had a say about 4 cylinder turbo lag all f*khead? If u don't have anything helpful to say then shut the f*k up Smart ass.

I solved this 'problem' by having a DTE pedal box installed in my accelleration pedal. Does not void your warranty like piggy bags or chiptuning will! Only did cost me around 200,- euro's and the result is amazing. It even makes the car a bit 'nervous' on the trottle. I only turn it on when driving on the highway and want to overtake very fast. Wooow!

I have been using a 328i loaner for the past two days. I can say there is lag once in a while, and while relatively quick, it also is just lacking something. I was hoping to be more impressed with the F30, as I was considering a 328i since I missed the feel of the lighter e90 330, but after 2 days, I realize could not justify paying $45k for a car with a 4 cylinder.

All these things do (dte, sprintbooster) is to amplify the throttle input. Theres no change in hp whatsoever. Lets say you press the throttle 10% the signal is amplified to 30% by the box. This gives a false sense of increased power because a little gas input on your part results in "more" acceleration due to the box tricking the car into thinking the gas pedal is depressed more than it is But at 100% throttle with or without the box its the same. By putting the car in sport mode you can achieve the same effect becos the pedal is way more sensitive |

Dear mister topcat87,
Of course there is no change in horsepower.... Did I say there was?? But I had it built in for a 2 week trial period. Was allowed to return it if I didn't like it. But since it really made a difference (to my opinion, at least) I decided to leave it in. The main thing is the accelerator reacts faster -or better said: right away, without that split second of waiting for it- even in sports mode. But then: I am an old man of 65, don't need lots of noice (with all the exhaust systems) or a one second faster from 0-100.... And I don't want to void my warranty. Finally: it is MY money and more important: I makes ME happy and that is what matters.....

Same as Sprint booster I am guessing. I can't imagine how ridiculously sensitive it will make Sport and Sport + |

dude you always say this and make your 328 to be an M3 killer with m3 throttle response. It is impossible for there not to be turbo lag. It does not vary between people or cars. The physics of making boost with a turbo dictates a period of lag where exhaust gases need to flow and spin the turbo until power is made. Especially from a standstill or really low speeds. There is no way around this.
I am not sure why you are giving people information like this. Turbo lag is one of the HUGE downsides to turbo cars. You really can't have everything and nothing is truly free. It seems too good to be true to take a small engine and add turbo and make it feel like a v8, better on gas and make tons of torque relatively speaking but the cost to especially performance cars is the lag in throttle response. Anyone who has had a bmw non-turbo inline 6 or M V8/10 knows what lagless response is and it is not the 328 |
