What's that app like? Why not use BMW's Laptimer app instead? It's free too

What fuel are you using BMWSKI? Is it premium diesel?

Nooo, I dont think it is bad. I personally prefer premium as I think the car is a little more responsive. But no need to spend out extra money on this if you dont want to.

Anyway, when gtsussex did his 0-60 times etc...with the vbox I'm sure he said he had ordinary diesel in, and still got times of around 4.6s 0 - 60.

Would be interesting to repeat these tests after a few miles on the car and with premium diesel.

I have a free version from a couple of years back. It gives 0-60 times amongst other measures so I thought I could do a few tests using that for comparison. Not sure how accurate it is (it's no RaceLogic after-all) but it should give a comparative result.

Does the Laptimer App have acceleration testing? G force perhaps.

The only reason sport feels faster generally is the over the top throttle map.

Add that to the gearbox setting extending the gear change map so you spend more time away from the peak torque would probably give the illusion of feeling slower. When in reality it's probably a teeny bit faster.

Got a camera handy?

Do some 20-70's in each drive setting....

*70 so you don't break the law.

It's be good to see the differences in gearchanges.

Yes, it records & shows the following information:

- Throttle
- Brake
- RPM
- Fuel
- G-Force
- Map

Kind of cool but not sure how accurate it is.
I've only used it once and only managed a 0-60 time of 5.1secs That wasn't using LC.

Do you mean this one? http://www.gps-laptimer.de/Features.html
That does G Force, in fact seems to do a fair bit.

I've found that these smartphone type apps are only any good if the phone is anchor well to the car. Needs a good mounting point.

Ive got an iPhone camera but I'm trying to find a suitable adjustable holder to use while driving. Any recommendations?

I don't think the BMW app is that accurate, although 5.1 0-60 is probably not far off for no LC.

The Laptimer app actually connects to the car via the USB cable. It even shows the turning of your steering wheel! All this is over a satellite image of your route too

These apps look like they could be some fun. I used a ski app in Austria and found it addictive trying to beat the top speed I had previously recorded. Managed to get to 107kph aggghhh. But seriously I think id lose my license trying to improve on the data if I had something like that for my car
