Just to give the other side of the coin, the marker on mine is spot on. The green marker, the actual speed on the speedo, and the digital display that pops up for a few seconds when you engage cruise - all of them show exactly the same speed. Agreed that the speed is a couple of mph below the true speed (as shown by three different satnavs I've tried), but all cars are designed like that by law to allow for tolerances, etc.

Wouldn't it be better if you didn't feel the need to question the OP on this? It has nothing to do with the thread.

I've noticed this on the cruise on my E90 but what's important is that the display actually tells you what the cruise is set to. And that speed is not the actual speed only the indicated speed as is typical for BMW. The actual speed is 4-5 mph lower.

For example, I set it at 80mph, the green marker shows roughly 78mph but my speed needle points at 80mph dead on. I took it to the dealer but they claimed that this is normal. Is this true?
I haven't tried mine yet, but are you sure it's not parallax error?

I checked last night and the marker isn't perfectly aligned to the set speed on my car either. Doesn't bother me though, but it might now that you pointed it out lol.

Nope, definitely not parallax error as that was one of the first things I thought too

Lol! I know exactly how you feel. It's not a big deal, just a minor annoyance.

Funny thing is, I had to send my car in to fix some stuff too. The loaner I had also had a perfectly aligned cruise control marker.....

Every manufacturer over states your actual speed, you can use a GPS to figure out the actual.

This is an old thread, but still an existing and rather widespread issue. So, what was your results? Did anyone report this issue to the dealer under warranty? What was their response?

P.S. To those who posted the "prefectly aligned" pictures above: read the tread first, figure out what it is about, then post pictures.

Nothing in your pictures shows your analog marker being "perfectly aligned", as you seem to believe. This thread is not about the speedo needle and CC maker alignment (this has never been an issue). This thread is about agreement between digital CC setting and analog CC marker. If you want to show that yours is "perfecty aligned", make pictures that show your current digital CC setting and the analog CC marker position at the same time. What you posted above shows absolutely nothing relevant to the topic.

Yeh and? The pic verifies Digital setting of 60mph or 80mph and both analog needle and CC marker are bang on 60 and 80. Or maybe you think I set it at 83 to show analog 80

Well, I don't see how "the pic verifies Digital setting of 60mph or 80mph". I'm not saying you are lying , I'm just saying that the pic does not show the current digital setting at all. So, by itself the pic does not demonstrate any "perfect alignment".

If your CC was set to 60mph or 80mph respectively, then yes, your CC marker is indeed perfectly aligned.

It may due to the color difference. The needle is orange and the marker is green. Since the wavelength is different, they are going to refract differently when they pass through the transparent plastic. Since the needle and the dial is the same color, they will appear to be perfectly aligned.
