Question Opti-Coat or Opti-Guard Info

I'm expecting delivery of my 2013 335xi sedan in late August and am considering applying ASAP an effective, long-lasting sealant to both protect the finish and avoid frequent waxing or detailing. I'd also like to avoid overpriced, short-lived dealer treatments!

I have heard very good things about the Opti products and they claim they are "permanent", not requiring periodic renewal applications every 6-12 months like some other products. Having no experience with applying such products, I'd probably want it done by a professional.

Do any of you have experience with the Opti products and, if so, what do you think of them. Also, can anyone recommend reliable detailers in the Washington, D.C./ No. Virginia/Maryland area who would be willing to prep the car and then apply it.....along with some idea of the likely cost involved.

Thanks for any and all ideas and suggestions!

Had my 335 opti-coated...absolutely love it. Check out the forums on autopia.org for reviews/opinions including an ongoing 2+ year test of opti-coat

I had my 328 OptiCoated last week and I can't recommend it enough. It rained here on Monday and I've never seen water bead up like that. I washed it for the first time last night (using Optimum No Rinse, which I also highly recommend) and dirt just slid off. Took less than 20 minutes (in my garage!) and it looks professionally detailed.

+1 for Autopia.org — I found a local Dallas detailer on the forum (Scottwax) who washed, polished and applied OptiCoat for me for $250 total. I specifically asked the dealer not to do anything to the car other than rinse it.

Can't recommend it enough! Its an awesome product. Cost wise on a new car you should expect around the $300 mark. It makes maintenance extremely easy.

Reflections above does it. Check out his work in this forum on the Subaru BRZ. Caveat: I don't know him, but I know good work when I see it.

I had mine done by Bryan from Concours Touch (concourstouch.com). Also a great dude, and he did an amazing job.

I've been considering getting this done as well. Anyone know how to find someone in the Los Angeles are that does this and knows approximately how much it'll cost?

I need it done in MA. I swear there is nothing good here for car enthusiasts. Anyone know a place?

this and you can top with Optiseal if you want. Optimum Car wax is ok as well but won't last like the optiseal on top.

Yep.. I've been using CarPro Reload.. the extra bit of slickness it adds is amazing, but it doesn't last at all.
