Looks like every other brand out there is struggling to come up with a new identity.
How many people had similar reactions about the F30's grille and headlamps? |

Holy crap is that fugly.
The cockpit, wheel, cluster and seats look damn good, but I don't like the linear dash stretching over to the passenger side (hated it in the E90 series as well). The rear view is actually nice looking, until you get slightly around the corner, at which point the tail lights look like a sad stroke victim or Bell's Palsy. The Nike swooshes under the headlights are just bizarre. The front is an abortionate hybrid of a regular sedan and a teenager's drawing of a futuristic alien supercar. A couple of nice lines in there (like around the side intakes), but a whole lot of what the fark. |

I love the consistency of Lexus. Crappy Toyota made even Uglier & more expensive.

I'll try to be objective in my subjectivity
Kudos to Lexus for going out on a limb - takes some balls. BMW has done this before (Bangle-era shit) and has been burned, I think (in my opinion, the last 3-series was a classic abortion). In this case, I think they went out on a limb, perhaps went a bit too far, and the limb may break... What is good, though, is that this is what I would expect Japanese futurism to look like; so, they're en pointe there. "Different" may attract a big crowd (though I disagree about the younger crowd; I have 27 years of age and this would have been too cartoonish for me even ten years ago). The comparison pictures between the two are great - the BMW looks like a timeless, conservative piece of German automotive engineering. Handsome, well-proportioned, and sombre in its purposeful perfection - it's comforting to look at. The IS is the opposite, and I think that's a good thing for both BMW and Lexus in that both these cars represent the stereotype of their respective origins. I do like certain aspects of the interior design, particularly that lovely LFA-like gauge cluster. I still think the simplicity of BMW's design mantra (aesthetic perfection through the pursuit of purpose and function) reigns supreme, but this is a nice modern twist on clean design. I like it. Other than that, I'm not really a fan of the "Start" button placement or the multi-tiered layout (Fiat Multipla, anyone?) |

After looking at the pics for a while... I don't think it's that bad besides from the front angle. The car looks pretty aggressive, looks like it got twisted from the back all the way to the front.
Still don't know why they decided to use the F-Sport name. I think there are better choices out there besides using -Sport. F30 still wins tho. |

I don't think it's that ugly. I think it's very bold design and I like the rear. I really dislike the separation between the headlight and the LED strip. If it wasn't there, I think it would look much better.
