Nope. 19 X 8.5 ET 35 and 19 X 9.5 ET 45

Thank you...for some reason that pic makes the tire look really beefy, more than I would have expected from just going +1 and such a small difference in sidewall height.

You no more than +3% difference in diameter (sidewall height) otherwise you're going to start having issues. Especially x-drive vehicles.

Plus it's gonna look weird.

Right, that's why I am surprised that the tire looks so beefy. Do you have more pics of your car from the side?

I'll get you some later today if I can pry it away from the wife. She loves driving that thing.

It needs a bath bad.

On stock wheels that are 8" up front and 8.5" in the rear, how many sizes up would be a safe bet?

Currently have the stock rfts at 225/35/20 and 255/30/20.

I'm assuming going +1 is fine, but going +2 work? Car is lowered on h&r sport springs and is xdrive.
Thanks!

The problem is that the rear wheel is only 8.5" wide.

265/30-20 has 9.5" wheel width as recommendation, and 9 or 10" as alternatives.

The front wheel can fit a 245/35-20 tire without issues but since your car is xDrive you cant find a tire size with good match for the rear.

A square 245/35-20 setup on the staggered wheels will work of course.

Thanks so much for the response.
I was about to start my own thread on this but I figure I might as well continue on this one.

So would you say my two options for new tires would be:

A) Stick with the same staggered setup as stock
F - 225/35/20
R - 255/30/20

B) Go with a square setup
F - 245/35/20
R - 245/35/20

I'm debating between S-04 Pole Positions (based on some other recommendations) or MPSS.
I can find MPSS in my stock sizes, but for some reason Pole Positions do not appear to come in my stock sizes. Is this normal for different brands to not provide all the same sizes?

And sorry another question regarding Load Rating (I'm really new to tires).

I was looking at some MPSS tires in my stock staggered setup.
The rear 255 wheels are a 92 load rating (92Y XL - what does XL mean?).
However, the front 225 tires are 90 load rating (90Y with no XL).
Would it be OK to have these tires with different load ratings on the front and back? Or is this normal as the lower aspect ratio tire in the back needs to have a stiffer sidewall?

Would these be the right load rating tires I should be getting? I do mainly city driving but will be doing about 5-6 track days next year.

I'm on the tirerack.com website, and I notice that they have 4 different MPSS that show up (this example is based on the square setup). Any idea why there is a price difference on these 4 tires? Three of them are fairly close in price but one of them is significantly more expensive. I have no idea. Any thoughts? Also seems these tires have load ratings of 95, which is quite a bit more than the 90 and 92 in the staggered setup.

And lastly, staggered or square? Whats the difference?

Thanks so much for anyone who can help provide some more insight.
Much appreciated!!

There is one more option for a square setup, 245/30-20. 245/30 will be a bit shorter than OEM size, 245/35 is a bit taller. Both will fit on your staggered wheels.

The staggered MPSS tires you have looked at would be ok. It's nothing strange that the wider rear tire has a higher load rating.

For me staggered setups are mainly for looks. For maximum performance and a more balanced handling on the track a square 245 setup is perfect.

@.BMW.

I'd get the ones NOT made for Ferrari, save some $$$ and get an extra 1/32 of tread.

@E30toF30 why is it you are considering the MPSS? There is no doubt those are awesome tires but if you are also looking at the Pole Positions then perhaps you want a good daily driver type tire with some performance? If so another tire to consider is the Hankook V12 Evo2. I've had these on my Audi S5 and I think they are a very cost effective option with a good combination of performance and comfort. Just food for thought.

The PSS are the best performance summers money can buy atm (someone correct me if I'm wrong) I've rode in my buddys 15' 650 coupe with those tires and I find they're extremely comfortable and quiet while offering superior grip. Not to mention they're really not that expensive.

XL is extra load. Which if I remember correct, all BMW rear tires require XL tires.

I definitely agree with you 100% but I guess expensive is relative. I was able to save a few hundred dollars by going with Hankooks versus PSS. For my daily driving and shuttling kids around the Hankooks offer more performance than I will ever need.

TBH I would run the PSS on my 335i, but due to the retarded weather where I live, I run the Continentals DWS as they actually fit all my needs and a bit more.

The stock rear tyre Pirelli Cinturato P7 RFT has worn quite badly, only 4000km clocked and it looks like it's been thrashed in a track :/

Never thought of going back to the same tyres but lol this just completely made me cross it out of my list. Front is still relatively good though.

Anyway, I purchased a set of Michelin PSS 19 inch, OEM size. The concave 624M is a rep with spec 19x8.5 ET32 and 19x9.5 ET40. The rear looks very stretched and the rims sticks out a little bit from the fender. Was hoping to get a flush fit but oh well this isn't too bad. I was contemplating a 235 and 265 width but that would increase the fender gap, and I don't plan to drop the car cause it's already too damn low by stock, don't want to go any lower..

Love the design of 624M. It's one hell of a head turner too, makes the orange caliper stands out. Too bad the original 624m oem width size is only 8 and 8.5 and no concave

WOW! That tire is really torn up. I had my run flats on for 10K miles and they still look perfect. I wonder if the heat and road conditions in Malaysia really messed that up.

As for the poke at your rear wheel, have you considered dropping it a bit? Or you could perhaps get it aligned and dial in a bit more camber?

The reason I'm considering the MPSS is because from everything i've read, they are the best summer tires you can buy. And of course, when looking at some other options, Im also looking for information on what else is comparable that would provide similar performance (or just not quite as good) at a more budget friendly price point.

I came across a comparison of 4 different summer tires (i'm trying to find the link but cant seem to at the moment) and the MPSS and S-04 Pole Positions came 1 and 2. Hence my consideration of the Pole Positions, especially if they are a few hundred bucks less.

I had not considered the Hankooks for my previous car and really hadn't thought about these again. But at half the price of the MPSS, I think I might reconsider.

I daily drive my F30 but I will also be hitting up 5-6 track days a year so I want something that will be awesome for both. So I guess the question is, will I really notice that much of a difference in performance with MPSS over the other options? Hmm...with my driving skill level, maybe not?

One problem i'm having now is that with the tire sizes I'm considering (Staggered 255/30/20 and 225/35/20, Square 245/35/20 or 225/35/20), the S-04 Pole positions do not even come in these sizes based on Tire Racks website. Only the MPSS come in all these different sizes. And looking at the Ventus V12, they also come in all of these sizes.

On another note, I'm really liking the idea of a square setup at 245/35/20 all around. However Im curious if that might be too much tire for the 8" wheels up front. With the MPSS, they are already known to be a chunkier tire than others so I wonder if 245 will look too fat and chunky on the 8" front wheel? Does anyone happen to have pictures of a 245 MPSS (or any 245 tire for that matter) on an 8" front wheel they can share?

Thanks for everyones feedback. Much appreciated!

Have no idea man but it really shouldn't wear down this fast. Anyway I thought of dropping but that will really render the car a full time garage queen lol. I'm alternating between the F30 and E46 330i (Still on original style 68) and I'm driving the E46 more than F30 nowaday cause of the bad road condition of my workplace :/

Hmm let me consult the tyre workshop and see if they can dial the camber in. Would be great if they could.
