Because its probably better car to live with on daily basis and it performs better off track too. Cheaper too.

Alpina F30

Remember that Alpina is classified as a builder, not a tuner, in Germany. What they do is basically get a complete, albeit not assembled, BMW from Munich then change up just about everything. The motor, body, suspension and interior are all upgraded all at once at their factory. So, with Alpina, it's a full custom treatment on your car. Hence the 'B' designators. Not sure why they picked the letter B, but a BMW 3,5,6,7 etc. becomes an Alpina B3, B5, B6, B7, etc as it's a totally different car at that point. And while I'm not a huge fan of the wolverine wheels, their multi-spoke wheel with the integral valve stem, as seen on the late-model Alpina B7, is absolutely stunning.

I think B stands for Bovenseipen (last name of the founder of the company) or even Buhloe (where they are built). But pretty sure it's after Bovenseipen. Ntothing to do with B version or whatever. They also have D cars for diesel models.

That would mean B stands for Benzin(gasoline/petrol)? And D for Diesel.

His name is Burkard BovensIEpen and the town is BuChloe.

I'll take the lip, spoiler and maybe even the wheels in the op if it becomes available to buy separately.

The F30 B3 will be powered by a highly massaged (by Alpina) N55 engine which should output more than the 400HP from the current B3 S's N54 engine. It will be offered in automatic transmission only. Expect a top speed in the ballpark of 290kmph as Alpinas are traditionally top speed unlimited.
Okay, I'm listening.

Wonder what exactly "massaged the engine means" Im assuming they had to upgrade the crank, considering they are aiming at over 400hp. Hope this opens up the door for aftermarket components.

The crank is already upgraded in the M135i (it is forged). They are doing much more to this engine and they work closely with another GmbH that is affiliated with BMW (that's how they got the tü for the N63 so fast), so they may be testing something albeit different of something coming.

Alpina's tend to be high speed cars with more low end grunt. Love them personally.

so what's to differentiate between a b3 and an m3..
the e90s had the v8 as a huge difference but this time around they'll both be inline turbo 6s.. not much difference.. i know suspension n all that whatnot will be different but i feel like it'll be pulled by the same power source.. +/- some tune
