Proper Car Wash - recommendation in jersey city
Hi all, I live in jersey city and would like to have my car washed properly as I live in a condo.
Any recommendations? all the cheap car washes around my area are horrible and they don't get rid of the all the bugs/stains or clean the wheel rims / underbody at all. any recommendations on what i should do? |

If you clean the car weekly or so, that will keep dirt, salt, and brake dust from getting out of hand to begin with. You can use a waterless wash for frozen days and rinse less with 2 buckets for other days. Use the same solution to clean the wheels last. Most important, but at least 8-12 high pile microfiber towels for the car and some cheaper ones for the wheels and interior like the orange towels from Target.

I tried this out but didn't work out mainly because the bug stains I have are over 6 months old and din't get washed away. Materials used:
chemical guys - waterless wash (green bottle) chemical guys - premium microfiber cloth (orange color) car color: deep blue metallic The problem area is confined to the front bumper, front end of the hood, headlights, fog lights and side mirrors. Some of it did come off but a vast majority of it stayed on. Its only bug stains and nothing else. What should I try next? |

Only way to see some results is by doing a complete paint correction. This means wash, decontaminate, clay, Polish, then sealant and wax. Search this forum for details. Big takeaway is that you should never neglect your paint for that long ever again. Bugs and bird poo need to be removed immediately. Do this by keeping a little quick detailer in the trunk along with a couple of decent microfiber towels. During summer months also keep a small spray bottle of water to spray first, then the QD. This will help to catch the issue before oxidation and etching occur.

Besides having my car detailed periodically... I bring my car to a DIY car wash bay to clean the wheels and rinse the car off. Then I drive the car home wet and use a rinse-less wash.

Rinseless and waterless washes scare me.
Don't give me a science lesson, I just won't use them. Better to let the car get dirty than to swirl it up.

Whenever people wince at hearing I rinseless wash, I challenge them to look at my paint (and plastic trim) and show me where I'm going wrong. Even my detailer can't take issue with my results.
