The E46 looks good. Of course, its got the factory kit. I'm sure the E90 and F30 would look equally as good with kits.

E46: Still epic. Proportions are perfect. M-sport LCI looks amazing.
E90: HATE the pre-LCI. LCI with M-sport is quite nice though. I really wanted to like it but really I prefered the E46. F30: I like it. I wish it had the E46 proportions with F30 design. That would be perfect. Overall the problem with these 3 is that the E46 is still such a good design! I'm sure F30 Msport would have stood out much more in these pics. Plus compared to competition I think F30 has the winning design.

I agree with most of the comments as of the E46 being the best looking, and it's the reason why I will keep mine as the first of my 3 Series collection,... next to buy is a LCI M-Sport E90/92.
The E46 proportions and flow lines are beautiful because they are simple, it is a simple design with an excellent distribution of proportions, something both E90 and F30 don't have, both are more complex designs and the F30 is better integrated than the E90, however the surfacing of the E90 is unique and from some angles, it is truly amazing, it just takes more time to understand it's design whereas the E46 is simple to understand so everyone loves it. I remember reading somewhere that the E46 was considered among the prettiest cars ever.

The E9x came out and was just a bloated version of the E46. Side by side they look like they are in different classes. The F30 brings the large size of the E9x however uses the lines of the car, hood line, grills, even narrow lights to give the illusion its the small car. My opinion ***for 3 series NOT M cars*** E46>F30>E9X I would have bought a 335 when I was shopping but I didn't want a car that when parked next to my moms black sonata it takes a double take to notice the BMW

I'm going to disagree with everyone who's posted before me here, I think the f30 looks best, but definitely BMW got something wrong when they put together the e90. I love the f30, e46, e36, in that order, not so much the e90. |

It makes me happy to see all these positive comments about the E46 coming from owners of different generations. Even though I will most likely be getting the F30 M-Sport later this year, I still believe the E46 is the best chassis BMW ever designed. It combines the classic boxiness of the E30 with modern aesthetics and has ideal size/weight for a luxury sports sedan/coupe. Truly timeless. The F30 brings some of that back with the straight trunk design as well as the flat front fascia. Although, I personally dislike the standard front bumper on the F30. It's quite ugly imo. The M-Sport however is just....
