I don't believe there's going to be a 335is until I see it!

Generally, 305-320 if your really lucky.
Most independant tests put the N54 engine in the 320-330hp range. Dinan's testing data (see the Stage 2 press release) puts the stock N54 at 331hp around 5,500 rpm and 330 lb-ft at 1,500 rpm.

I've seen Dinan'ized 135 and 335 get 320-325 hp at the rear wheels in Calgary (nearly 4,000 ft elevation). That works out to 380ish at the flywheel.

DCT - I drove and M3 witha DCT. It was pretty slick. Not sure if I'd pay an extra $2,500 for it though.

My wife could drive my car if I had DCT - not sure if that is a positive or a negative?

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it as being plastic or a joke. For one the seats are actual leather over vinyl seats on a +$40,000 3 series. http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/com...37-vs-bmw-335/
The front suspension is a double wishbone suspension over a multilink on the 3 series. And the G37 motor while being naturally aspired can still manage over 550whp with twins on a dynodynamics dyno on pump gas with a stock motor and it will hold 500+ whp reliably. And tops 600+ whp on 100 octane with a stock motor.
http://my350z.com/forum/shop-builds/...p-474rwtq.html
ASR hit 500+ whp with the 3 series on race gas if I'm not wrong for $7k-10k?

and there's many other previous generations doing well.

How many G's are running those power levels? "Many" doesn't equal the amount if guys here running 400+whp on daily basis. Pretty much a $600 tune would net a good driver low 12's on a quarter mile. Spend another thousand bucks on a fmic and DP's and we're into the 11's. What do most G's run?

I'm not hating on the G37, it's a decent looking car even though I think the G35 looks better. You get a lot of car for your money but in terms of driving dynamics and the ease to extract massive amount of hp it can't compare to the 335 and almost every magazine tests agrees. This is where every single japanese car aimed at the Bmw 3series seems to fail. They have every single technological gizmo thrown into it if not more and the car just doesn't have the driving feel that every 3 series has.

Regardless, OT. Point is, if you want the hot version, you have to pony up for the DCT, which is a great tranny.
Hang out at a car club meet, you'll meet plenty.

I didn't even know that there is such as thing as 'not rev-matching' until this forum. I just figured everyone learned how to do it in the first few weeks.

+1.

I saw a beautiful M3 today in a freakin auto. It ruins the car.

Your right the only reason an auto is needed is for insane HP draggers.

I still don't understand the statement about manuals not being able to handle the torque...

Dude... I specifically ordered my e90 without leather and no power seats. Leatherette has loads more grip and can take much more abuse than leather. Why would anyone want power seats, it just adds weight and will break eventually. I only need to adjust my seat once... The first time I sit in it, plus no one else drives my car so why should I care?

To add on to that. I own a 84 325e and it has leatherette, and guess what the seats are in awesome condition.

I think it looks good, and has reliability going for it. But if you care about driving, it's not the car to get....

I've only owned one auto vehicle and I sold it after 3 months. It was a Tacoma, but I just get pissed at autos and there stupid computers.

Now of course the autos that I have driven weren't DCT.

I've never driven one, but I suspect that I'd like a DCT better than a stick simply for ease of operation and an increased resale value.

Fyi - the powerglide trans is a 2speed

The track event I was at had a cayman go through a fence and an s2000 go end over end.

All it takes is ONE error on one downshift/clutch release and you got a yard sale. That's pretty easy if you don't do this regularly.

All I had to do was focus on the turn entry/exit all the while keeping BOTH hands on the wheel.
Makes going fast pretty easy

I still do not get the over reaction to autos. I LOVE mine and its not even a DTC, just the regular 335 auto. I drive exclusively in manual mode and get to choose my shift points just a nicely as I did when I drove a MT. It fully locks so once its in gear, its just like MT except you dont have to waste time and effort pressing a clutch. It also drives consistently well, where as when you tired or distracted, shifting an MT deteriorates as your not paying as much attention.
