Don't know whether this is the better behavior of the two behaviors, but I found it very convenient.
I like this behavior. One of my pet peeves in cars is having a chime going at me with nothing to explain why. BMW and Audi both do a good job these days of displaying a textual message accompanying any chime, but there's no easy way to do that when you're outside the car.

I just wish there was a way to turn of the auto dimming mirrors at times. Could not find any button to do it. Am I missing something?

Inside or out? Rear view mirror has a sensor that looks like a dot on the top of it. Its annoying. I never used (or flipped on a conventional one) to the dim or night mode. Sometimes i just cover it with my finger for a second. Im thinking of getting and small sticker and covering it but that would just look weird.

I started using it all the time now that I know about it. The best part is if you have HUD you see the arrow for your next turn with the miles, get the route information and map on your monitor.

Without the HUD, this info appears in the extended gauge area above the odometer.

I very much like the small wheel on the left hand side (to the right of the light switches) that allows you to control the brightness of the illumination. Note that this also controls the brightness of the iDrive-display. This comes quite handy when driving in the dark.

With HUD you can still get it in the instrument cluster if hud is turned off. But i like looking at the road. I like how it shows what the intersection looks like as well.

Yep - just checked this out. Never noticed it before, but the lights definitely brighten onto the seat closest to the door which has been opened.

Also...bump this thread - it's great!

Such a great thread but very difficult to go through everything. I've had my car for near 6 weeks and found this last night and couldn't believe it. I was actually excited when I found this cubby.

Are you attempting to bind the key on the actual wording selection of "Sport Displays" or doing it while the Sport Displays are already showing?

You need to do it at the selection of the Sport Display not when it is open.

Hope this helps!

Unless you have lane-departure warning, collision warning and blind-spot information. Then, this cubby is replaced with switches and indicators for those three systems.

I almost wish I could get a panel with fake buttons and replace it to give it more of a stealthed look. Could be a great concealed storage location.

Post #740 - I notice you don't have front or rear fogs (I don't know if they're classed as a cool feature )

Do US models not have fogs? I must say I'm not quite sure what the front ones give you, but the rear do help being seen better in bad weather.

Relatively new to the forum so not sure of all the market variances (Dynamic braking and boot locking from glove box aside)

US M-Sports do not have fogs. All other US F30's have front fogs, but no rear fogs.

You can see two of the three buttons, in this photo. Your owner's manual will show a better picture, even if you don't have these features on your car.

When shifting into reverse while the lights are on, the door-handle lights illuminate.
