Jrocker3's Mineral Grey 340i

So I placed an order at the end of June for a 2018 340i, and I picked up the car last week at the Performance Center in SC. The wait was worth it. The experience was great from start to stop at the Performance Center, and I couldn't be more happy with the car.

My build includes:

Mineral Grey Metallic paint, Black Dakota Leather w/ Oyster highlight, Aluminum Dark Carbon trim, M-Sport Package, Track Handling Package, Adaptive M Suspension, 6MT, 704M wheels, heated front seats and PDC.

After taking delivery I drove pretty casually the past two weeks until I hit 1,200 miles. I just did a small break in service yesterday, consisting of an oil and filter change. I also installed Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires; BMW Black Kidney Grilles; M-Performance Alcantera & Carbon shift knob/boot, e-brake handle/boot and armrest. I also put all weather mats in the front.

So after the M-performance parts, tires and oil change, I was finally able to open it up last night a little bit... wow... this car is awesome. (I knew it was awesome prior to doing the beak in service, but I had been limiting myself to 4,500RPM... )

I am coming from an E90 335xi (AT) which I love (is now my wife's car) but the 340i is refined in so many ways. My biggest gripe is the steering in the F30... even in Sport+ it's just not the same as the E90... but I absolutely love everything else.

Anyway, that's my short intro on the new car, I am looking forward to many miles of fun. My future plans include an exhaust suite... debating MPPSK or AWE... time will tell.

Thanks for looking!

Doesn't the track handling pack come with MPSS? Why did you swap tires?

Looks absolutely perfect when the exception of that i-drive screen. Should have went with the larger LCD!

Comes with the MPSS if you go 18" wheels... mine came with Bridgestone runflats

I hear you... with the 2018 packages if you want the bigger screen you have to get HUD and Nav. I don't care about Nav but I hated the HUD. Life goes on... as mentioned I'll save that money and will get the exhaust at some point.

What an awesome car, congratulations!

I did PDC with my 340 earlier in the year as well, it's a great time. I did a small review of the 340 here.

I really like your wheels. I have a 2017 MY and have the 442M (I think) and they are not as "edgy".

Plans for an exhaust? You won't regret it. BMW MPPSK or Dinan will allow you to keep the vehicle warranty. My dealer recommended the Dinan kit and I love it (exhaust + midpipes).

Yes exhaust is in the future... and it will make it that much more sweet!

Love the car! Larger display would be nice but that'll require the navi and such. Either way, great car!

Looks great! So that small screen means there no nav in the car? I would retro-fit that asap.

Congrats, I love mine as well. I like the Alcantera mods and the Aluminum trim, nice choices!

If you go with the Dinan Stage 1 and FreeFlow exhaust you will love the car even more. The MPPSK is an alternative and I'm sure it's great too, I just have no personal experience with it.

Also, if you're interested in changing your badges and/or the appearance of your roundel, have a look at what I did. I feel it compliments the Mineral Grey well.

Correct, no Nav. To be honest I hardly, if ever, use Nav (phone or otherwise) and that was another reason not to get it for me.

I find myself to be looking at the tach and road more than anything else

I do wish the bigger screen could be had without the added electronics though!

No nav = who cares. It's a nice plus but for the cost from the dealer I'd way rather spend my money on performance mods.
Nice ride! Similar to my unit, no frills just pure driving enjoyment!

Congrats! Beautiful car!

Mineral Grey really stands out and it was my second choice when I was about to order my F31. This engine must be a blast to drive!

Enjoy it in good health!

Thank you! The engine is awesome... I'm coming from an N55 but the B58 is absolutely better from what I'm experiencing.

So I'm thinking about going AWE for exhaust.
This car is my DD and I'm saving for an E46 M3, so I'd like to keep the 340i "as reliable as possible" (haha......)

I thought about going Dinan but I'm more intrigued by the AWE system. The MPPSK would be nice, but a tune - even a factory one - is only going to add more stress to the engine. I would like to keep this car for the next 7-10 years.

Maybe I should just keep the stock system a while longer...?
