New '18 440i X-Drive 6mt

Proud owner of a brand new 2018 440i X-Drive with 6mt (located in NY area, so really wanted to AWD)

Mineral Gray over Coral Red, Premium Pack, Exec Pack, M-Sport

First things I did once I got the car home (just this past Friday) was put in Weathertech liners front seats and trunk (again, NY area in winter) and swap out the stock tips for burger tuning black chrome ones. Really sets it off nice with the black kidney grilles.

Also added in the proclip cradle mounted to the black kuda piece. Wasn't sure how it would look on the red/black interior, but it seems to fit in nicely and hasn't bugged me so far. Final touch was wiring in the Escort detector, though I didn't do a mirror tap, I just ran the wire down to the outlet under the glove box like I did on my old 2012 328xi coupe. Works perfect

Here's to many years and miles driving this beauty around at 5mph due to NYC traffic

Beautiful car, there can't be many of these with the manual transmission. Congratulations!

Very nice build!

The acceleration assist from a stop helps a lot in the stop n go situations so it's not severely tiring to drive in traffic every day. Been doing it for a year n a half now lol.

Funny thing is I never knew it was there until someone mentioned it in this forum a few months after I took delivery.

Can I ask, what is "acceleration assist" that you mention? Is that only on the auto trans or on the manuals too?

Not sure what it's called officially but I'm specifically talking about manual. The engine will rev itself as you release the clutch to help avoid stalling.

You'll do better than me with RWD when the snow starts falling as I choose to work from home those days as I experienced the fun of being the slowest driver with spinning wheels on the road once .

Love the color combo, my 335i is MG as well so glad to see another in the NYC / LI area. Glad to see the MT drivers aren't a dying race (yet) though mine is an auto, it only sees the Drive momentarily as I prefer to row my own gears since the tranny tends to be rather laid back in comfort. You should only suffer the dreaded 5 mph plague when in the boroughs as most times when I hop over into LI (at least Suffolk), I tend to be able to stretch my legs better.

Thank you! The MG/CR color combo was one I fell in love with very quickly. Makes me chuckle though, because there are at least 3-6 other exact color matched cars driving around in my area. One guy down the street has two! (330i and 430i GC)

Haven't seen another manual yet though, so I've got that going for me!

Nice car. Love the 6-Spd; not too many of those around anymore. Quick Question, did you get the M short throw gear shift with the M logo on it?

One more quick question...Were the black exhaust tips an easy install with a brand new car? I was thinking about ordering the same ones from Burger Tuning.

Going to answer both your questions here:

1- nope, it's the bone stock manual transmission and M-Sport package. No BMW accessories or add ins yet. I test drove a 6mt 340xi in NYC with the BMW special shifter and I hated the feel in my hand.

2- yup, the burger tuning tips were super easy. Recommend a rubber mallet or some wood + hammer to bang the old ones off a bit and then they will slide off. New ones are just a reverse. There are a few YouTube videos I found showing the process and it took me about 5 minutes total to do both tips

Mine are Burger tuning black chrome ones for reference with the pics
