Run-flats vs. non-run flats

I just had my winter tires (non RFT Blizzak WS70) traded out for the Conti all-season run flats the car came with; what a difference! The ride is dramatically harsher and I feel like I would know it if I ran over anything thicker than a dime. I didn't have my car for very long before putting on the winter tires, and don't remember it seeming like such a dramatic difference. Kind of a jarring ride now, even in comfort mode. If I owned it, I'd definitely look into non-RFTs at some point.

Yeah I've got some new wheels coming in and just ordered some non RFTs. Now I'm concerned that I'm plagued to need a spare or run flat at some point soon.

What's the best option that situation?

well you have have bmw assist that'll tow your car if you are completely stuck. A can of slime and a compressor is another compromise. However, a spare is the best solution. I wonder if the e60 spare will work for the F30's as they did on the E90's.

BMW assist?

Maybe check out this: http://www.tirerack.com/accessories/...-501d8626a8d6&

I don't think you'll want to carry a conventional spare...

After my current RFT run out of tread, im just gonna go with regular tires dont need run flats. Ive gotten nails in my tires but never deep enough to blow the tire. And its much cheaper.

I carried a Slime repair kit in my trunk all winter. They get good reviews, but I hope never to need it!

I think you can build space saver spare tire for yourself.
http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthre...ighlight=spare

The guide is for F10, but with same wheel and hub ring & DIFFERENT tire 145/70R18 (size according to bimmerzone) or you just can buy spare from them (but too pricey)

if DIY route is working, around $300.. I guess.

if Really need a spare set in the trunk
get cheap rim and tire, if you don't care about space it will be taken with that.
it costs around $200 I think.

Yea...I wouldn't want to carry some giant spare and take up the entire trunk. If I didn't have a spare, I'd go with one of these patch kits and hope the flat happens in civilization. Any place without cell phone coverage is probably not somewhere I want to be taking my luxury car anyways

we can nevet too careful.
I personally experienced tire exploding, not just inflating in past five years. (well it was on rental Camry with recycled tire on it)
Last week, my father had one popped.
Sometimes, just plugging is not working in those kinda situation.

The chance is slim, but I will be prepared for that when it happens.

I take it by saying if you "owned it" means you are leasing (which technically is still ownership).

Anyway, you should be okay with your all-seasons to last you the whole lease, as they normally last much longer than summer tires. I am leasing my 335 xdrive but got it with summers and even with swapping those for winters for 5 months of the year, I know I will still have to replace them before the lease is up
