ALPINE WHITE - F30 335i - 1 YEAR MOD PROGRESSION

BACKGROUND

Name is Alan, new to the BMW scene or Euro cars in general. Been modifying JDM cars for over 18 years and never gave Euro cars a try. Didn't know much about BMW and only got one because the wife wanted it. To be honest, I didn't want to mod cars anymore, but the wife asked. So we picked up this used 2013 F30 335i in Alpine White, NON MSPORT, NON SPORTLINE barebones F30. I have an older thread on all the DIY mods (newbie f30)

THE BUILD

If I had to do this all over again, I would have got an msport model or at least sportline model. The exterior is easy to mod, but it's the interior that gets tricky and in some cases you can't mod it at all like paddle shifters and heated seat functions, the list goes on. My idea was to build this car with parts that had form and function since my wife is going to drive it also. Tho I would make some mistakes, I had to do my research to minimize it. I'm pretty hands on when it comes to my builds which is more than half the fun. Without overspending, I sourced half the products on ebay and a few here on the forum. It's been a full year now since we got this F30 and here is the progression to date

MODS

GOOD-GO M-TECH BODY KIT (EBAY 500 BUCKS)
GOOD-GO FRONT DIFFUSER
GOOD-GO REAR DIFFUSER
GOOD-GO SIDE DIFFUSER

OEM MSPORT SIDE SKIRT STICKER (GETBMWPARTS 100 BUCKS)

AUTO TECKNIC CARBON FIBER VACUUM MOLD SPOILER
AUTO TECKNIC CARBON FIBER MIRROR REPLACEMENT
AUTO TECKNIC DRY PREG CARBON 5 INCH EXHAUST TIPS
AUTO TECKNIC GLOSS BLACK DUAL SLATE GRILLE

CARBON FIBER ANTENNA (TAIWAN BRAND 25 BUCKS)

AVERY GLOSS BLACK ROOF WRAP
AVERY GLOSS BLACK DOOR HANDLE WRAP

SEMI GLOSS BLACK CALIPER PAINT WITH M LOGO STICKER

BC COILOVERS, BR, -1 DEGREE CAMBER FR & -1.5 DEGREE CAMBER RR

VORSTEINER VFF-103 GRAPHITE 19" RED CENTER CAPS (FORUM)
TOYO TIRES T1 PROXES 245/40/19 FRONT (KE TIRES 400 BUCKS)
TOYO TIRES T1 PROXES 275/35/19 REAR (KE TIRES 400 BUCKS)

MSPORT STEERING WHEEL (EBAY 450 BUCKS US VERSION)
MSPORT FLOOR MATS (EBAY 90 BUCKS)
MSPORT BRAKE, GAS AND DEAD PEDAL (FORUM)
CENTER CONSOLE TRIM SILVER (EBAY)
CUSTOM CARBON FIBER FABRIC WRAP ON ALL DASH AND DOOR PIECES
5% TITANIUM REAR TINT AND 15% TITANIUM FRONT TINT BY 3M

AFE MOMENTUM PRO 5R INTAKE (CRAIGS LIST 100 BUCKS)
AUTO TECKNIC STRUT BAR

CONCLUSION:

Estimated total of 6300.00 spent and who knows how many hours modding it. I tried to go with parts that would last such as the PP plastic front lip, side diffuser and rear diffuser. Carbon fiber would just crack and fade over time. I had carbon fiber door handle covers, but those did not last and also the carbon blocked the door lock sensor. I went with the BC coilovers because the car will be only for street driving and also for the price you get 30 levels of dampening, ride height adjustment and front camber plates. As for the wheels, I wanted something with no lip with a concave design. The Vorsteiner VFF 103 seemed to fit the bill. I went with 245/40 in the front and 275/35 rear so there would be enough tire to protect the wheel and to give some comfort since my wife will be driving it. pretty much every mod had to make since for this build. More mods to come, hope you all like what you see so far If you are a NEWB, take notes on my mistakes.

Lol, its usually pretty dark towards the bottom so you don't really notice it. Didn't want to cut the tip on the stock exhaust incase I need to change it back.

Thanks. Friend gave me some ideas and worked out. Different than the white/black that's common. With the porno red interior It's a nice accent.

I was going to go 20s but don't think they would work. Too tight. How did these work out?

It rubbed a little in the front because I have it lowered to just about a finger or less fender gap. I had the wheels cambered -1 degree so I don"t have any rubbing issues anymore. Spec camber is supposed to be at -0.9 camber or less a the most, figured 0.1 degree more couldnt hurt that bad.

Carbon Fiber blocks signals, that's why the M3/4 don't even use CF on the shark fin. Have you noticed poor signal quality on any of your infotainment?

Actually, not at all. Radio and Navi work fine. I would have taken it off it it did like I did with the CF door handles. Those totally blocked keyless locking.
