Excessive tire wear?
A little over 6000 miles ago I installed Cooper Winterforce WSC 225/45-18 tires on my OEM wheels. These tires have 12/32" tread brand new.
My car is lowered on Bilstein PSS coilovers and the car was aligned by BMW and is within specs. I just had them rotated and the fronts were at 11/32" and the rears were at 8/32". Does that seem excessive for wear in 5000-6000 miles? |

It really depends on how you drive and the conditions over those miles. But in general, dedicated winter tires wear pretty quickly due to the softness of the rubber, especially if driven on even slightly spirited (or harder) and/or if all of your miles are warm weather dry miles. And by warm, I mean above freezing.
I'm trying so hard to not push my winter set (pirelli sottozero 3) for this very reason...it's not easy when the weather is nice. Love having them for the nasty days though |

I live in NE Ohio so temps stay pretty much at or below freezing. There have been some 40-50 degree days though.
As for driving style, it is pretty spirited. Oh well, I should be able to get at least 2 seasons out of them. I got a great deal on them so I won't feel too bad about it. |

The winter tires mileage will (literally) vary greatly with road conditions and as others mentioned temperatures. Just enjoy your vehicle.
