Which MPSS tires should I go with to not rub?

Hey guys, so basically I got some Michelin Pilot Super Sports installed yesterday. The fronts are alright but the rears poke out a bit past the fender.

Here are the specs:
19x8.5 ET35, 235/40/19
19x9.5 ET35, 265/35/19

Here's my dilemma. I have coilovers that have been sitting around waiting to get installed and now that i got the Michelins installed, I don't know that I'd be able to go any lower in the rear because they already poke and I would most likely rub. I have a few options in mind, or if anyone would like to make another recommendation i would appreciate that too!

Option 1: Keep 235/40 front and go 255/35 rear (instead of my current 265/35).

Option 2: Go for 235/35 front and 255/30 rear.

I have attached some pics too. Thank you!

i like option 1.

option 2 will make the speedo read lower than actual speed and accrue more mileage than actually being driven. bmw's come from the factory already with speedo's that read slower than actual. the lower diameter would better your acceleration, though.

I picked up a set of used VMRs with the following setup: 19x8.5 ET35 front 19x9.5 ET33 rears and I run 235/35/19 and 265/30/19 respectively. As a result, I am in a similar position as you with the rear being slightly poked with MPSS. You probably don't want to here this, but the ET35 for the rear on our F30s is slightly too aggressive and will poke out like what you and I have experienced. I know it's not feasible, but it's best to go with an ET40 rear and run your 265 or even a 275. Option 1 would be your best bet but what you'll experience is a slight stretch of the 255 on a 9.5" rim. For some reference, feel free to check out the photos I posted of my F30 here:

Smaller overall radius equals higher speed shown on speedo

I would stay with OEM sizes. 225/40 (overall diameter 26.1in) & 255/35 (overall diameter 26 inch).

Or 235/40 (overall diameter 26.4in) & 265/35 (overall diameter 26.3in)

These are the perfect sizes, the latter would look less stretched

I'm on the fence between OEM and REP for a F30, but leaning towards the REPs because of my calculated poke past the fenders. Currently I have 18x8.5ET35 front (about 5mm inside fender) and 18x9.5 ET33 rear which measures 27mm. That looks just fine, but I think the perfect look is 12mm front and 21mm rear which gives an aggressive tire look outside both fenders without being too much or looking unbalanced.

Ideal 12mm / 21mm (0mm / 0mm)
19x8.5 ET35 / 19x9.5 ET40 REPs calculate to 5.5mm / 20mm (-6.5mm / - 1mm)
REPs with 5mm front spacer calculate to 10.5mm / 20mm (-1.5mm / -1mm)
19x9.0 ET29 / 19x10 ET40 OEM calculate to 18mm / 26.5mm (+6mm / +5.5mm)

Will be using 235/40 and 265/35 tires if I buy replica wheels and use 255/25 and 265/35 if I buy OEM.

Anything smaller than 235 in the front looks stretched.
Anything larger than 255 in the front will rub.
Anything larger than 265 in the rear has a chance of rubbing. Many have run 275 without issue.

To calculate tire height: ie 245/40R19

Take the width of the tire (ie 245mm)
then convert to inches (divide by 25.4)
then multiply by the ratio (.40)
then multiply by 2 (tire on both sides of the wheel)
then add the wheel diameter (19").

eg: (((245mm / 25.4) * .40) * 2) + 19" = 26.72" tall

*Don't exceed +- 0.5" the stock tire height to maintain your suspension, speedometer, comfort, etc.
*Try to stay as close as possible to stock tire heights.
*The speedometer comes ~1% fast, meaning a 1% increase in tire height will give you a true speed.

Wheel-----Front Offset + Tire----------Rear Offset + Tire-----------Total Height Front / Rear---Pct Diff from OEM Front / Rear
18" 400M (18x8 ET34 225/45R18 / 18x8.5 ET47 255/40R18) = 25.97" / 26.03" (stock)
19" 437M (19x8.5 ET35 225/40R19 / 19x9.5 ET40 255/35R19) = 26.08" / 26.02" REP (same as stock)
19" 437M (19x8.5 ET35 235/40R19 / 19x9.5 ET40 265/35R19) = 26.40" / 26.30" REP (+1.6% / +1%)
19" 437M (19x9.0 ET29 235/35R19 / 19x10 ET40 265/30R19) = 25.47" / 25.25" OEM (-2% / -3%) - Very popular with ACS / HRSport kits
19" 437M (19x9.0 ET29 235/40R19 / 19x10 ET40 265/35R19) = 26.40" / 26.30" OEM (+1.6% / +1%)
19" 437M (19x9.0 ET29 245/35R19 / 19x10 ET40 265/35R19) = 25.75" / 26.30" OEM (<-1% / +1%)
19" 437M (19x9.0 ET29 255/35R19 / 19x10 ET40 265/35R19) = 26.02" / 26.30" OEM (0% / +1%)
19" 437M (19x9.0 ET29 255/35R19 / 19x10 ET40 275/35R19) = 26.02" / 26.57" OEM M3 *Possible Rubbing*

A 35 ratio tire is generally around 3.5" thick sidewall.
A 40 ratio tire is generally around 3.7" thick sidewall.

I personally like the thicker sidewall for comfort (at the cost of some handling) and to minimize wheel gap (I don't plan on dropping my car more than 0.75")

Hi Kabrich, I'm lowered on Bilstein B14s and am planning to get new wheels. Front is 19x8.5 et35 and rear is 19x9.5 et40. I'm planning to go with square setup 245/35 to play it safe with the xDrive transfer case. Do you think the setup is good?

I think you'll be just fine, but 245mm is the minimum recommended on a 9.5" wheel. I you're open to staggered but want to play it super safe, I recommend using 245/35/19 in the front and 255/35/19 in the back. This provides the following benefits:

1. Your wheel diameters will be less than 1% difference in the front and stock in the rear.
2. The rear tire will be less stretched and be the recommended width for a 9.5" wheel.

I ran 235/40/18 and 265/35/18 on my E90 with xdrive for years with no issues and plan on using a similar setup on my F30, but in 19".
