Non Runflat staggered tyres

I'm looking for a new set of non runflat tyres,
currently have MPS4 on rear 255/35/R19
and MPS4S on front 225/40/R19 as i couldn't seem to get matching set at the time.

i'm looking for something a tad cheaper than the MPSS but in non runflat.

looked at goodyear eagle F1 asymmetric 5 as they about the only ones i can find in a matching set in non runflat.

any reccomendations?
i'm getting old now so tend to drive quite slowly lol

If you don’t need the performance, I’d be looking at Hankook (quite a soft compound though), Yokohama and Avon - Avon wore well on my golf and at AC rating, sound more than adequate for your needs.

The newest Pirelli P-Zero is allegedly a significant step up on previous iterations if the online reviews are anything to go by. I've just got a set of the RFT ones for mine as I'm ditching the go flats as a bad job, and as I have the winters on I won't get a chance to use them for a while yet, but I'm hopeful. The thumbnail in the rubber test says to me that they're similar in compound to the Michelins (older P-Zeros always felt pretty hard and bouncy). If they're within 5% of the MPS4S then I'll be happy, it's well within the amount you'd get used to - i.e, after a few weeks you'd not be left missing what you had. That said I'm not sure how they price up in non-RFT.

Hankook's are decent tyres, they've been on quite a few rental and courtesy cars I've had over the last few years and they've all felt like decent, well rounded tyres. Then again reviews suggest they're less sporty and more 'comfort', which would tally with my experience, albeit in chunkier sidewalls and on less quick cars. I've got the Asym 5's on the Impreza and they're great tyres on that. I suspect that while you'd be able to tell the MPS4, Asym 5 and MPS4S apart in back to back tests I doubt you'd feel yourself being short changed with any of them in isolation. IIRC at the time the MPS4 was a little softer than the F1 A5 and that itself a little softer than the MPS4S. It's all relative though. I think the MPS4S is a decent all rounder but it does seem to have the cult following on here which I'm not sure it deserves. Sure, it is a *great* all rounder, but it's far from the only one.

My experience of Yoko tyres over the years is that they're not particularly long lived, need warming to get the best from them, aren't great on greasy roads and in the sport versions quite harsh riding. For me with the Impreza (and having winters) this was a reasonable trade off but not one I'd go for in an all rounder daily IMO. And by harsh I'd say more crashy than even something like the S001 RFT's. The reviews of the latest don't seem to be much different. In fact most Japanese tyres seem to struggle with cold/damp conditions in this country, and I'm not sure why. Whether Toyo, Bridgestone or Yoko, they're great when warm and it's dry, and glidy/greasy when not.

Thanks,
i always have a hard time though, settling on mid range tyres.
they usually only work out a few quid cheaper than the premium ranges,

i had some Kumho tyres on a previous car that i really didn't get on with.
and ended up replacing.

I have Michelin Primacy 3 - although they aren't cheap but has a good longevity that will save money on a long run. They also seem to be quietest you can find which was a very important factor for me when buying a tyre.

Fair play. In your shoes I’d then be looking at GY efficientgrip 2? Seem like a balance between mid range and top performance premium, with the right brand and pricing.

Definitely a contender for me when I can run down my runflats.

Camskill have a good selection; just get them delivered & then fitted locally.

These would be my choices; I've run Vredestein's quite a few times now and have been very impressed with them and always tried to go for them, but sometimes they didn't do the sizes needed

Camskill have the Uniroyal RainSport 5s in too; they're well suited to the UK climate and great tyres IMO

+1 for the Contis. Not a fan of the Hankooks personally.

thanks,
good prices on those assy 6's, though my local does the 255's for £154 fully fitted. and usually charges about £20 a corner for fitting.
i'll have to ask him to quote for the 225's as he doesn't list a price for them.
