So I am still getting to know voice control of my Idrive 5 and found a confusing situation. I have my father saved in my phone as 'papa' (the local language for father). However, bmw knows that term too, and when I tried 'call father' on voice control my car prompted that no contact was set as father. It then asked for a name. I tried saying it, but it misunderstood me and now my own number (our names are similar) is set as father.

So the question is, can predefined contact terms such as father, mother (and I think I heard manager was a term too) be edited, changed, etc? If so, how?

Not of which I am aware. One trick is to use periods "." before favorite contacts so they come up earlier in list.
You can also use Siri or Google Assistant for commands on phone.

FINALLY I found someone with same issue.

My problem is with "Mother".
It saved a phone contact that is totally not my mother to some internal/hidden contact called "Mother". It is not like the "Home" contact that is listed. "Mother" and "Father" contacts are hidden.

I cannot find any way to change/remove it.

Use the voice command: 'Delete relationship"

iDrive 6 has a feature called Relationships.
