I wouldn't be too against having 5kHz and 10kHz flat... The frequency response might be a bit smoother, but the distortion from the tweeters bothers me so I take them down a touch.

Still need to get an RTA in the car though. Someday!

I have been playing with different settings for over 3 years and over the last year just gave up and kept them where they are at. A few days ago, I decided to search the forums for some newer EQ settings and came across these ^. AMAZING. For the first time I feel like I can truly appreciate the capability of this system (be it may not be the worlds greatest, its still pretty darn good for factory OEM systems). Also, any time I have tried to use the L7, it seemed like an epic failure, but with these settings the L7 sounds awesome.

Thank you for the settings!

Yes, Glenn, thank you very much for your settings. I used to be in the car audio business way back in the day, but now a days, I'm just happy to have a decent sounding oem system that is really not all that bad, it definitely beats anything else I've had in the past including the B&O system in my previous 11' S4. I am in the process of ordering a harness from Technic so that I can install a JL XD500/3v2 amp which I'm going to start with at first to just amplify the under seat subs and see how I like that. I'm waiting patiently to hear reviews on the new bavsound ghost subs that it sounds like many guys on here have pre ordered. I read in Technic's write up, that he was very impressed with the oem subs after adding the aftermarket amp. So much so that he questioned whether the customer would even need a trunk mounted sub. I am not crazy about the idea of a sub box sitting in my trunk as I often carry golf clubs or something else back there and am not keen on giving up the space. If a musicar box comes up for sale anytime in the near future I would probably go that route but for now I want to start by just amping up the oem subs and setting the xovers to see what that gets me. If I feel it could be better I will probably go for the bavsound under seat subs next, and maybe consider doing the bavsound stage 1 speaker upgrade kit. I guess my biggest question is has anyone on here posted a new eq setting with the upgraded bavsound speakers? I'm assuming the midbass response would be slightly better and not so bright on the high end due to the silk dome tweeters so obviously some different eq settings would be warranted. Any opinions?

My current settings haven't changed much but after almost 42k miles this is how it's set...

Bass & Treble = Flat
Balance & Fader = Centered
L7 active
(Speed Volume = Center)

100Hz +4 (sometimes +5)
200Hz -5
500Hz +2
1kHz +1
2kHz Flat
5kHz -1
10kHz Flat

Irrelevant. This is the most accurate settings I have found for the HK, but the system's inherent non-linear response does make for some songs/genre perform better than others. R&B/Hip-Hop may need to have 100Hz at +4, where Classic Rock might have 100Hz at +5, but not much else changes unless the listening material's mix is way out of whack.

Perfect that was the answer I seeked, which was how you change the 100hz based on music Thanks again for your settings first thing I'm going to 'mod' on my car before I leave the lot and enjoy the good music :P

Any reason why these settings wouldn't apply to an LCI F30 with HK?

I don't believe there are any audible differences in the LCI and pre-LCI HK systems.

I'm so used to aftermarket systems where you have to be in that specific vehicle to listen. It's really cool that you guys can hear how my system sounds in your own car.

Centered. No boost; no cut.

I'm not an expert in terms of sound but I really would love to optimize my listening experience with this HK system. What would be the optimal setting for F33 convertible and I Listen to hip hop/ rap 80% of the time, pop 10%, EDM 10%. I do like bass though.

I can't help, but from reading all pages on this thread, I believe you are in the wrong car/sound system if you like bass response.... Upgrade those woofers

The bass in HK system is good enough for me.

Did you try setting your system's controls like I have my F30 set? What did you think?

I have set my eq as you have specified..but I added 1 click more to the lowest frequency. .your settings do give a more balanced sound. I also used those settings on my previous e90 car with hk.

I did. I liked it. I basically just go heavy on the bass. Just wondering if there would be a different setting catering to hiphop/rap to optimize the nature of the genre

Set it like Glenn did, and then turn up the bass slider to like +3 or 4. Definitely added more bass for me when I want it.
