Luxury Line w/ DHP vs M-Sport Line Suspension

Hey All,

I sold my E92 335i a few years ago and am now shopping for the 4GC. I'm not a fan of what BMW has done with the different "Lines" but it is what it is. I'm pretty set on Imperial Blue with the Saddle interior, which means I'll have to go with the Luxury Line. My question is on the differences between the following suspensions:

- Luxury Line w/ DHP option (Adaptive M Suspension)

- M-Sport Line w/ DHP option (Adaptive M Suspension)

- M-Sport Line w/o DHP option (M Sport Suspension)

If I choose the DHP option with both Luxury Line and M-Sport Line, would I be getting the same suspension? Or is it simply giving me the electronic adjustability of what comes standard with each line (Electronic adjustable Standard vs M-Sport Suspension)?

Thanks in advance!

You will get the same suspension, even the same ride height. If you take the Adaptive M Suspension on the Luxury Line.

If that's the case, then DHP is good value for the Luxury/Modern/Sport line cars but kind of stinks for M-sport lines. For $1000 you would get VSS, upgraded suspension and electronic adjustability and on M-sport you are only getting VSS and adjustability. Wouldn't it have made sense if BMW reduced the cost of DHP to say $500 on M-sport models?

Are you sure about the ride height?

The suspension differentiation applies to both the M Sport line and the Sport line, which both get the static 704 sport suspension. Yes it would be nice if BMWNA would adjust the DHP price on those models. My guess is they decided there is insufficient economies of scale to make it worthwhile and that buyers who really want DHP are not going to let the lack of a discount keep them from getting it.

Actually, it is not what it seems to be. What about creating something really unique?

You can make a Luxury Line into your own Luxury/Sports Package, just special order the M-Sport suspension (704), the Sport Seats (481) and the Anthtracite Headliner (775). If you really like the M Sport Steering (710) wheel then you can add it as well.

All that should be about $2000 MSRP.

That would be the best combination of Imperial Blue and Saddle Brown.

And yes, all that can be added to the Luxury Line. It is just that nobody in the USA have asked for it per option code. Yet.

I've also been thinking that a Luxury Line optioned with the M-Sport parts is the way to go.

It kind of reminds me of an Alpina. Sporty and elegant.

In case that you are thinking about the M Sport aero bumpers: they cannot be added to any other Line, only the parts listed above.

Being that Saddle Brown leather sport seats are available in other markets do you think they'd approve them in the U.S. even though they haven't been safety tested here?

Everything except the M-Sport front and rear bumpers, side skirts, M-Performance front splitter and rear diffuser:

M-Sport Brakes (or M-Performance Brakes), MPPK, MPE, LSD, 6MT, M-Sport Suspension (or DHP), 19" wheels of choice, Sport Seats, Anthracite Headliner, M-Sport Steering Wheel, trunk spoiler...

You're absolutely correct, I should have checked the order guide. Regardless of model line, once you choose option ZDH (Dynamic Handling Package), you will get suspension 2VF (Adaptive M Suspension). ZDH will delete 704 (M-Sport Suspension) from both M-sport or Sport-Lines.

The Sport Seat with Dakota Leather is certified. The seat leather color is irrelevant from the point of view of the certification, the leather hide type is what matters.

How do we go about adding these options to the order? I don't see them in the configurator or order guide. Also I'd imagine that these options would cost much more than $2000 to add? I would mostly be interested in the Sport Seats (481) and M Sport Steering (710) as I would already add the Dynamic Handling Package.

You need to tell your salesperson to call BMWNA production department and request those items added to your build. They will answer with the MSRP of each option. Final price is determined by the dealer.

481 and 710 should be about $1000 both. DHP has the same 10mm drop as the 704.

On the flip side, is it possible to order M-sport line with Saddle interior or would that have to be BMW Individual order?

Man, you have really got my motor going now. I would love to do this with Melbourne Red and Saddle Brown. That's what I had in my ZHP (Imola Red & Natural Brown) and I really miss it.

Is it possible to add M Sports suspension on Xdrive? Will it lower the ride height?

Not by the factory.

The F30 DHP on the xDrive does not lower the ride height 10mm as in the sDrive models.

Technic, from everything I've been reading it is not possible to add sport seats to a luxury line. Sport seats are only available on either sport or m-sport lines.
