Hello guys,

I am trying to add my car to my connected drive account but i receive an error message ?A message with security code cannot be sent to your vehicle? and that i have to contact bmw customer care to add it manually after providing them with vehicle registration documents.

The problem is i have a retrofitted NBT and the NBT Vin is different from my car VIN.

Any idea how to work around that. Is there a different way to add the car.

Mainly i would like to add to be able to use bmw labs widget with IFTTT

Any help would be appreciated ?

The VIN of the headunit must match the VIN of the TCB/ATM. Do you have a telematics module already, and you added the NBT? If you, you need to flash the NBT with the VIN of the telematics module, and add new FSC codes for that VIN.

Had the same issue, askedBMW and they said:

Vehicle cannot be mapped. The BMW Assist Safety Plan product for Model Year 2013 and older vehicles are no longer supported.




However, your vehicle is eligible for a customer-pay retrofit. Please contact your dealership for further information on this topic.

I am not sure i fully understand, but i think I dont have a telematics module. I only retroftted the NBT and activated but the NBT has a different VIN then my vehicle

Can i still add my car?

You can not add a car to a ConnectedDrive account without a telematics module. Also, you can't use the BMW Labs widget without a telematics module either.

Turns out someone on their end screwed up in my case:

Dear Customer,

We are sorry for the incorrect information provided to you.

Your vehicle is not under the 2G- Combox Retrofit Campaign.

Vehicle has a newer technology, TCB embedded, a 3G module and Retrofit is not necessary.

You are the primary subscriber under this vehicle account with email: xx@xxx.com. However, services expired on 10/25/2016.

Since vehicle is in deleted status, an ESA must be created and services renewed. Please call us at 888-333-6118 and reference this email and a specialist will take your necessary information to do so in a secure manner.
