A puddle in my trunk

So today I discovered a puddle in my trunk. It was raining, so either the trunk of my brand new 340i is leaking or, more likely, the trunk was open and some good samaritan closed it before I got back to the car. There have been a few instances where I've locked my car walked away and come back to find the trunk open. I'm guessing this is the key being activated in my pocket. Any way to disable the trunk open feature on the key fob? Any other ideas? Maybe a case for my key?

I think if you use the valet switch in the glove box, you won't be able to open your trunk with your fob (or any other way until you turn off valet mode).

Put some dry towels down in your trunk and close it. Run a hose over your car for a few minutes. Open the trunk and inspect for water around past the seals and on the towel.

FYI I've found my trunk open several times in my own garage. I think I accidentally hit the key fob in my jeans. Use the valet switch in the glove box for added piece of mind if you are so inclined. I think the fobs are poorly designed in this aspect.

I forget is the battery in the trunk on your car? If so be very very careful and get this addressed ASAP.

Why is it so exposed? Isn't there carpet mat that covers that or is that getting wet as well?

The benefits of having a GC...I have my hatch programmed to just lift to 'level' with the roof if it accidentally opens..(never has happened).

Washed the car today and there was no leak. The the trunk definitely opened after I left the car. Bought a cheap key fob cover on eBay. We'll see if that helps.

Yes, typically the fuse box and everything is covered by the trunk liner, which i removed so it would dry faster.
