The excitement is building:
'17 340xi Munich Build Ordered 2/24 Production number received 3/6 (CA really dragged his feet on this) Started Production 3/28 (CA wasn't forthcoming that production would be 1 month delayed, week 14 build, estimated completion 4/7) In body shop 4/4 In paint shop 4/5 Production completed 4/6 En route to port of exit 4/7 At port of exit 4/10... and we wait for an east coast bound ship. Patience has not been easy so far! |

Argh . . . the long wait begins
Technically ordered a 340i (RWD) on 3/29. Dealership didn't have an open allocation slot for a RWD 340i so i had to wait a little bit. Looks like they got one as I'm in status 112 now. Build week 20 (May 15th). SA build. Looks like I won't be seeing the car until early/mid-June. I hope that doesn't cause issues with my financial services lock, as I did max MSDs and locked in under the pretty good March leasing terms.

I've got a 17 328d Wagon ordered to replace a soon to be bought back VW. Thing is I didn't want it to go quick. I wanted to get the car at the end of June. Dealer said it would take awhile to get an allocation and get it built. Ordered it March 20th thinking it'd be a bit before it even got an allocation. Just found out it has just sailed out of Bremerhaven

Apparently the car was headed to Brunswick after Baltimore and dropped off on the VPC on April 11th. It is now waiting for another vessel for its final trip to Puerto Rico. I can't wait! |

I only knew because my dealer informed me yesterday via email, he's been great about keeping me up to date. Other than asking your dealer, I don't think there's any other way for the consumer to find out. Prior to that he told me that depending on the options you get and the amount of backlog they may have at the processing center, the VPC work could take anywhere from 2-4 days (again on average for the Baltimore center). Hopefully yours will be quick.

curious that it took so long from work order being closed to being shipped or arriving at dealer? genius folk are saying once my work order is closed it will ship same day and arrive at dealer next day and we are similarly local to VPC. excited to see photos of your new ride! |

ok so NEW update is car is coming sooner than estimated yesterday!
new info states: 03.10 ordered vehicle 03.12 went into production, VIN provided and production number 03.27 finished production 03.28 transported to port of exit and waiting on shipping assignment 04.05 vessel assigned and shipped aboard "tamerlane" 04.18 arrival @ VPC in baltimore 04.21 VPC work order complete, on trailer, and en route to dealer 04.24 arrival at dealer basically cut a whole week off of the work order schedule over night. if true, that's awesome. that's just about six weeks for custom build - not too shabby! |
